Community Highlights: Meet John Wabiszczewicz II of JW Tower & Telecom Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Wabiszczewicz II.

John Wabiszczewicz II

Hi John, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my career in telecommunications in 2007 with American Tower in Greater Boston. I was an Asset Acquisitions Attorney, negotiating lease extensions, lease buyouts, and land purchases on the most strategically important cell tower locations for the organization with a spend of over $40M annually, with transactions across the United States.

In 2010, I moved to Colorado and was a Tower Acquisitions Representative with American Tower acquiring new cell tower assets with new revenue totaling over $10M per year. This included an end-to-end process including negotiation, data analysis, due diligence, lease and contract execution.

From 2013 through 2023, I was a member of T-Mobile’s Regional Network Engineering and Operations team in their Denver Market. I was a leader of their Real Estate and Construction teams responsible for design, zoning, permitting, leasing, entitlement, construction, and turn up of new cell sites and modifications on thousands of projects for T-Mobile. Having covered the states of Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Utah, Nebraska, and Kansas my team contributed to its rapid growth and success while being responsible for a budget in the hundreds of millions.

I established JW Tower & Telecom Consulting to help property owners make informed decisions about their cell tower assets, including lease buyouts, lease negotiations, and tower sales.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like most businesses, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. In the early stages of JW Tower & Telecom Consulting, one of the biggest challenges was building awareness and trust among property owners who often have limited experience with the telecom industry. A big part of our work is education. Many property owners don’t realize how valuable and complex their cell tower leases can be, so we focus on showing them how an experienced advocate can protect their interests and maximize that value.

Another challenge has been navigating the constant changes within the wireless carriers themselves—budget pauses, shifting priorities, and new site strategies can all impact deals and timelines. Staying adaptable and maintaining strong industry relationships have been key to overcoming those hurdles.

Over time, those challenges have helped shape JW Tower & Telecom Consulting into a stronger, more client-focused business. Every obstacle has reinforced the company’s mission: to provide clear, honest guidance that helps property owners make confident, informed decisions about their cell tower assets.

As you know, we’re big fans of JW Tower & Telecom Consulting. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
JW Tower & Telecom Consulting was created to help property owners navigate the complex world of cell tower leases. We specialize in cell tower lease buyouts, lease extensions, and tower sales, providing property owners with expert guidance and market insight to help them make informed, profitable decisions about their tower assets.

What truly sets us apart is our unique mix of experience. Our background includes past experience on the infrastructure and carrier side of the industry with American Tower and T-Mobile, where we gained firsthand understanding of how carriers plan, negotiate, and manage sites. Combined with an attorney background and experience in engineering, real estate, and construction, this gives us a 360-degree view of every lease, project, and negotiation. We understand not just the property owner’s perspective—but the carrier’s strategy and constraints as well.

We’re proud that JW Tower & Telecom Consulting has earned a reputation for transparency, technical expertise, and client advocacy. Our mission is simple: to level the playing field for property owners, explain every option clearly, and ensure they maximize the value of their telecom assets. Whether it’s evaluating a buyout offer, negotiating an extension, or simply understanding a lease’s long-term implications, we help our clients move forward with clarity and confidence.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
A key piece of advice is to gain experience from multiple angles. Understanding the industry from both the carrier side—how projects and negotiations work—and from the property owner side makes all the difference. For anyone starting out, having a mix of technical knowledge, legal understanding, and real-world operational experience will help you navigate challenges more effectively and deliver real value to your clients.

Finally, patience and persistence are crucial. Results often come slowly in this industry, but staying consistent, building relationships, and putting the client’s interests first will pay off over the long term.
