Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Jones.
Hi Katie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2018, my husband and I bought our first rental property and I wanted a way to share what we were doing in order to be able to educate others, so I began blogging about real estate investing as.
After a while, I had readers reaching out about how to get their personal finances more in order so they too could invest in real estate. I then began creating more content related to money management. Eventually, I had some followers asking if I could personally work with them to coach them on their money management, so I stepped into a coaching role.
Today, I help young professionals learn excellent money management skills using biblical money principles through my blog, social media feeds, group coaching programs, as well as individual coaching.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
If anyone ever says that the road to building a business is easy – don’t believe them! Entrepreneurship seems very glorious to those who aren’t in it and desire the flexibility of being their own boss.
But as an entrepreneur, you are not only the boss but the marketing expert, the customer support agent, the content creator, the administrator, the accountant, and every role in between. I think the most challenging thing for myself has been to figure out how to creatively do it all and still stay motivated when things don’t seem to be working the way you’d like them to.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I offer one on one and group money coaching opportunities for young professionals who are looking to achieve financial freedom using biblical money principles. I specialize in teaching money management from a biblical perspective. One of the best things about being a money coach is being there the moment that the lightbulb goes off and things start to click for my clients.
It is exciting to see them transform their lives and become more competent with the way they manage their money for the glory of God and the good of others. Money can be a weird subject to talk about, but the way we spend our money says a lot about what we value most. So it is my job to help my clients uncover what matters most to them and how to prioritize those things within their spending plans.
I am also a real estate agent here in the western Denver Metro suburbs. I help both buyers and sellers find and sell their first or next house! I love getting to work with first-time homebuyers and educating them on the home buying process so they can confidently find and purchase their first home!
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice for anyone trying to network or find a mentor is to not be afraid to ask. So many people are ready and willing to share their knowledge, but just want someone to ask. Remember though, to not make the conversation all about yourself.
Find out what others are passionate about and why they do what they do. Deeper connections are formed and lifelong relationships are built when you take the time to get to know the person you are talking with.
