Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Kelly.
Hi Kelsey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My love and passion has always been interior design. When I was younger, I was in awe watching my mom grow her successful interior decorating business and I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was learning so much from her. As I got older, I felt that this career direction wasn’t within reach for me, so I focused on what I thought was a more structured path of a business degree.
Fast forward a few years and I found myself in Colorado Springs as a managing partner of a successful restaurant where my husband and I met while we were in college in New Braunfels, TX. While managing the restaurant, I not only developed my business management skills, but I gained a huge appreciation for customer service and building relationships with our guests.
Eventually, I sought a change of pace and was offered a position in the relocation department at one of the most successful and prestigious real estate companies in Colorado Springs. I was excited for the opportunity to support one of the most elite groups of Realtors in the business. While working with realtors, home sellers, and buyers, I quickly realized home staging was an integral and vital aspect of selling a home for its greatest potential. Finally being able to bring together my love for real estate, interior design, and working with people, I realized my path more clearly than ever.
I began staging for a friend of mine who was an agent and she believed in my abilities – more than myself at times. Stephanie Hawthorne pushed me to grow my business from the ground up by referring me to everyone she knew in real estate. She helped me establish an LLC, get some headshots and business cards, and even introduced me to the person who helped me build my website. Before I knew it, Signature Staging Company was born. I never knew that I could do what I loved for a living and it is an incredible feeling that I will forever be grateful for. I truly can’t thank her enough!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, owning your own business is never a smooth road. I’ve always been very determined and do my best to maintain a growth mindset. I learned so much in the beginning and hope to continuously learn as we grow (which is especially important with the fast-paced nature of this work).
The other key to balancing struggles and growing pains is the people who show up along the way. I have THE BEST group of friends and family that give great advice, motivation, and support – they’ve even helped move a little furniture for me!
I’ve also had the opportunity to work with some incredible agents who have always believed in me and my work. And last but not least, I’m extremely lucky to have the best group of stagers working with me every day and creating some amazing spaces. My team is small (there are 5 of us), but they are mighty and continue to impress me with every new space. They work hard (like really hard) and always seem to get better with every home that we have the opportunity to stage. I am beyond grateful for each of them!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Signature Staging Company?
A first impression can (and almost always does) make the difference in whether a property is viewed or not. We offer a variety of solutions and in every service we provide, we take pride in our high standards for quality and customer service. We understand every client is different and enjoy creating unique spaces.
Signature Staging Company’s priority is to ensure homes sell at their highest value while at the same time making the process both easy and seamless for homeowners and their agents.
Although we specialize in staging vacant listings, we provide all levels of staging to fit any timeline or budget. This includes client staging programs; where we provide a detailed list of suggestions for a seller to prepare their home for the market. Occupied stagings; where we bring in some of our items to make a listing stand out and look incredible in photos. And finally vacant stagings; we have a warehouse of our inventory with a variety of designs to enhance any style of home.
We try to create a feeling, that cozy feeling that makes a person feel like they are at home when they walk through the door.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I’ve learned that COVID-19 affects everyone differently – we never make assumptions and we are always respectful.
We implemented “Virtual Staging Consultations” during the height of Covid to help homeowners prepare their homes for the market while respecting social distancing.
We also focused on staging vacant homes as much as we could and found that we grew even stronger as a team during this time. We always try to make the best out of everything.
