Community Highlights: Meet Kendall Schauermann of Madrega Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Schauermann.

Kendall Schauermann

Hi Kendall, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was the middle child in a big family and was quiet and shy when I was young. Looking back, it is clear that I was depressed and searching for meaning and purpose in my life. This carried on into college and my early twenties. Then, in my early thirties, I was a father of a 2-year-old with a 2nd child weeks away from being born. I was preparing for my first Ayahuasca ceremony and my first deep spiritual experience.

That ceremony was followed by more and more experiences with psychedelics, meditation, and working with therapists and healers to help me begin to tap into my authentic self. At some point, I realized that holding space for others on their healing path was the purpose that I had so desperately been searching for earlier in my life. I had no choice but to make drastic changes in my life and went back to school to get a master’s degree in Mental Clinical Health Counseling from Naropa University in Boulder.

I focused on Contemplative Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology, which ended up being the perfect complement to integrating and holding space for psychedelic experiences. I graduated this May and am now in private practice working with ketamine as a tool to support personal healing and growth for myself and my clients.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like most healing journeys, mine has not been a smooth road. Realizing that I had a lot of personal work to do to begin to step into the life that I craved meant that changes in lifestyle, personal relationships, and how I viewed myself had to be made.

I now see how coming back to trust in myself and the vision of my life that I knew was possible over and over again was one of the main things that kept me moving forward when things in my life seemed to be falling apart.

We’ve been impressed with Madrega Wellness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Madrega Wellness is my Contemplative Psychotherapy practice.

I specialize in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), psychedelic integration, supporting fathers of young children, and grief and loss. I often support male-identifying people who have been living with anxiety or depression and who are ready to find meaning and purpose in their lives. I also have experience working with individuals in hospice care and with dementia, as well as supporting their families.

The main thing that I would want readers to know is that they are not alone if they are feeling anxious, depressed, or lacking a sense of connection in their life.
