Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren and Jessica Dally.
Hi Lauren and Jessica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In the beginning of COVID times, we really wanted to create something where we could create community, and serve our existing community. Since we have a long love of coffee, it seemed the best plan to open a coffee shop in the heart of Aurora where we could create relationships, grab a cup of coffee, and serve our community. By creating a local coffee shop to come to, it creates the warm and inviting space that people could meet friends, family, or even make new friends. But, furthermore, we get to create and serve amazing coffee and support local brands in the process as well, by providing fair-priced products and goods.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think any business in the past couple years has had a smooth road. Many have had to make adjustments along the way to accommodate restrictions in volume and try other avenues for getting products to the people. I am thankful we have started out online, so it gave us an option to serve our customers in a “non-contact” fashion. However, our biggest struggle has been the process of building our brick-and-mortar store, and the many hoops that come along with that undertaking.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Dally Grind?
The Dally Grind specializes in creating connections through coffee, cold brew, and tea to bring people together and serve our community. From the start, we have wanted to make sure our customers got amazing coffee and could create connections through that with friends, family, and with us and our employees.
I am really proud of what we have been able to create online; from collaborating with local Colorado businesses to offer amazing local products, to show what a true family-owned business that cares for its community, can do for the community. We have been able to give back to teacher’s appreciation events, healthcare workers, and the local Denver metro area.
We have been able to show our customers what I personally think to be a great cup of coffee or cold brew, some humor to make you smile (I mean, check out that family photo on our website), and building relationships with the patrons who help keep us going online. Even to the point that we are able to share and bring joy to people’s lives not only in the metro area but around the US.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is being proud of where you are in life. Seeing the path, it took to get there, understanding the challenges and the “high points” and being able to look back and see the amazing journey it has been–foreshadowing the amazing continued success to come. It’s not without hard work and true heart-centered intention, but when those come together with some good determination, you can move mountains!
