Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Maines.
Hi Lauren, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always been fascinated by the history, majesty and mystique of wine. Wine can be traced back over 8000 years ago to our ancient world. Very few things in our current time period can provide us with a direct connection to our ancient ancestors-even fewer that we can consume into our bodies. Every time you pop open a bottle and sip from that glass, you are experiencing more history than you can ever imagine! I created “What’s Wine Is Yours” to emphasize wine appreciation by creating unforgettable and unique tasting events. The events focus on history, stories, and personal experiences that captivate guests and offer newfound appreciation for the wine that is in your glass! I am also trained in the dramatic art of Sabrage! Sabrage is the elegant and renowned art of slicing off the top of a Champagne bottle with a sword. Nothing says, “WOW!” like opening up a bottle of bubbles with a sword!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The entrepreneurial road is always filled with peaks and valleys. One of the biggest lessons that I have learned in my journey is the importance of honoring natural strengths. I firmly believe that each of us possesses our own unique gifts that only we can offer this world. Personally, I feel the most resistance and stress when I find myself trying to fit into a belief or mold of what “I should be.” We cannot try to fit into a mold that denies our own true self. Be unapologetically YOU-that is what the world wants and needs.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about What’s Wine Is Yours?
My primary intention is always to enhance your appreciation of wine. Notice I did not say that I want to enhance your knowledge of wine. Why? I firmly believe that the most important thing that you need to know about the wine that is in your glass is whether you like it or not. Wine should not be scary, intimidating, or snobbish! When you break it down to its most basic form – wine is juice from a grape. Rather than reciting facts and figures about viticulture, production methods, etc. I prefer to share history, stories, and create personal connections to the wine, thus enhancing your appreciation.
My second intention revolves around the emotional component of wine. Wine is a vessel for bringing people together, and it unites us on a level that is greater than we can possibly fathom. When people are gathered with wine, memories are made. Like wine, I like to break down the idea of memory to its most basic form – memories are priceless impressions in our minds and hearts that connect our past with our present. Thus, my second intention is to provide opportunities to create memories. An entire memory can be relived when we think about the impressions that a wine left on us. It might be the aromas and flavors in the glass, the fellowship around us, or the occasion for which the bottle was opened that create priceless memories.
I would like to raise my glass to every individual who has invited me into their lives to share in a special celebration and the opportunity to make memories that last a lifetime. Being included in momentous events is an honor that I will never take for granted. I am continually grateful that I have the privilege of creating memories through Sabrage Ceremonies and Custom Wine Tasting Events.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love working with individuals to create memories that last a lifetime! Every occasion should be a celebration! Elevate your upcoming event with Champagne’s most elaborate & elegant ritual, a Sabrage Ceremony! Sabrage adds an element of glamour to all events: Weddings, Engagements, Business Grand Openings, New Homes, Private Parties and Fundraisers.
