Community Highlights: Meet Luke Farny of Rossmonster

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Farny

Hi Luke, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My background is in engineering and I have always had a passion for adventure and the outdoors. One summer, my girlfriend (now wife) and I traveled in an old, cheap van that we bought on Craigslist, and I was hooked on the freedom of it. We tossed around the idea of buying a newer van that was more reliable and Ross was the first person that came to mind to help with the project. Ross and I met while I was living in Boulder and we bonded over many epic road trips. A mutual friend of ours had an old, yellow school bus and every weekend we would load up all of our friends and head out on an adventure. On a river trip on the Grand Canyon, Ross and I got serious about building out a van and spent hours scheming up our plan. After getting off the river, we bought our first van and proceeded to build it out on the weekends and after work. When we wrapped it up, we sold it in a matter of days. At this point, we knew we’d found something special. We both quit our day jobs and bought a few more vans.

Rossmonster grew from a driveway project to a full-scale company with a team of 35+, building everything in-house to ensure quality and customization. I’m proud to lead a team of family and friends, all dedicated to craftsmanship. Where others turn down custom ideas, we say yes, creating vans that are innovative, reliable, and optimized for every customer.

For us, it’s not just about building vehicles; it’s about enabling others to find that same joy in exploration.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
While the journey has certainly had its challenges, I see them as invaluable learning experiences that have shaped Rossmonster into what it is today. Early on, we faced the typical startup hurdles—resource constraints, scaling production, and refining our processes. Each struggle taught us resilience and adaptability. We’ve turned obstacles into opportunities for innovation, whether it’s finding better ways to customize our builds or improving our operations. Ultimately, these experiences have strengthened our commitment to craftsmanship and our community, making our success even more rewarding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
