Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle And Mike Dallas.
Michelle and Mike, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We are Mike and Michelle, a father-daughter team from Cheyenne, WY with deep family roots in Central Montana. We began by cooking chili competitively in chili cook-offs around the Western United States.
After receiving various accolades and a great amount of positive feedback as well as having folks ask to buy our chili/mixes, we decided to start our company, Fat Howard’s Chili Company, named after Mike’s chili loving grandpa Howard.
We turned our award-winning recipes into premium chili seasoning blends so folks can make their own chili quickly, easily, and have confidence it will taste delicious every time!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We have certainly had bumps in the road. We worked tirelessly for months to formulate our first recipes. We started out with four red chili blends. Let’s just say that our friends and neighbors were sick of chili by the end! But it was all worth the struggles. We ended up with four delicious red chili blends, each of which has a distinct flavor profile, then eventually we added our fifth red blend and we’ll be launching a green chili blend soon, which we’re super excited about!

Our specialty is crafting premium chili seasoning blends with the end goal of making it easy for folks to make their own delicious award-winning chili. What sets us apart from others is that each of our chili blends has its own unique flavor profile, that’s distinct from each other. Most chili seasonings are basic and have a “mild” and “hot” version. We worked hard to create chili seasoning blends that have their own flavor and even personality. Each of our blends has a story and is based on a recipe we made at one of our previous chili cook-offs.
We are proud of the branding that our designer created for us. Each package design accentuates the landscapes that add to each blend’s personality and hints at what to expect for the flavor inside.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
We believe sometimes it’s about being in the right place at the right time and there have been instances where we have been fortunate enough to make important business contacts as a result that have propelled us forward.
