Community Highlights: Meet Ravyn Robbins of Rescue Puppy Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ravyn Robbins.

Hi Ravyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to today?
I have been an avid yogi since my mother broke her back and had to undergo multiple surgeries, starting when I was about 12. I wanted to help her rehabilitate and keep my body strong, flexible, and without injury through Yoga, and I did. My love for animal yoga came in 2018 when I signed on with Rocky Mountain Goat Yoga right after completing my degree in computer engineering and fell in love with everything about it! Animal advocacy and animal yoga are amazing releases from the life of a coder. I continue to teach for Rocky Mountain Goat Yoga, providing a beautiful mindful practice that acts as a therapy for humans and animals alike. Working with our lovely hearts Inspired me! With all of the experience I gained through my career and all of the lovely energy I had from making people smile with animal yoga over the years, and I wanted to give back to more humans and animals alike. With RMGY as a huge supporter of me and my rescue efforts., Rescue Puppy Yoga was born.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been some growing pains and minor stumbles. We’ve had people walk out of an event because we only had one puppy. This was a sign that we were doing an excellent service to the rescue; we had helped get so many animals adopted. At this point, the rescue we work with, IRESQ, was waiting to get the opportunity to save more. I was not upset, as this is a very rare occurrence, and the little puppy (Milo) was adopted that day! There have been bumps and bruises, but being a yogi has helped me ease with the yin and yang of business: there is light in every dark situation.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Rescue Puppy Yoga provides adoption events paired with a low-down beginner-level vinyasa flow where yogis can interact with the animals during their practice. This gives potential adopters the ability to see how the pups are with people in a social and active setting and with other puppies. Our events seek out fosters, funds, and forever homes for the animals. It’s our goal to allow rescues to do the rescuing while we take care of the rest! We put on the donation-based event all over Colorado. We hope to expand our reach to other states as we’re happy and excited about the impact we’ve been able to make with Rescue Puppy Yoga in the short 7 months since its conception!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck hand, I have a funny relationship. I often use luck to discredit myself. I have always dreamed of a way I could make a difference in the world while making myself happy. I have worked hard to gather tons of skills, knowledge, work experience life experience. I’ve made tons of substantial elaborate plans that need a 6.5 step plan before I could make a difference. I sometimes want to say that I got lucky. Rescue Puppy Yoga fell into my lap. And it did. After years of hard work and dedication, I had become a yoga teacher, and I had the skills from my education to put together a website and graphics, as well as the business brain I gained from my close following of our family businesses and their rise and fall. Years of working three jobs to put me through school and yoga teacher training brought Rescue Puppy Yoga to me, not luck. Rescue Puppy Yoga is perfect for me. It’s a no-brainer, and I’m happy it didn’t take me too long to realize I can help people and animals today. Rescue Puppy Yoga nourishes my heart, soul, and body in more ways than I could ever dream. For the realization that I already had all of the skills to fulfill myself while helping other beings thrive and the people in my life and in the business who have supported Rescue Puppy Yoga, I feel super lucky!
