Community Highlights: Meet Roni Slavit of Resiliency Herbals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roni Slavit.

Hi Roni, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up I always had health problems and no matter how many doctors I would see or how many tests I would take there never seemed to be a solution. I would be told again and again to “I’m not exactly sure what is going on here, but take this pill and hopefully it will help”. Being at such a young age my family and I felt nervous taking all of these drugs without much of an answer so we looked towards a more natural holistic approach. After finding a functional medicine doctor and naturopath these health problems slowly began to get better. My practitioners at the time were able to figure out the root cause of my symptoms, diagnose me with multiple autoimmune conditions that explained to a T what I was feeling, and put me on a protocol that would lower inflammation and clear my body in an all-natural way. I was introduced to different herbs, supplements, nutritional protocols, meditation, and lifestyle practices that truly changed my life for the better. I was finally heard, seen, and understood. I had someone that was there for me on each level, that helped me work through the physical, mental and spiritual. It was this full-body healing, this alternative holistic approach to health that open my eyes to what health truly means.

As I was in my final years of college, I started making small batches of essential oil blends and selling them to help bring a sense of soothing relaxation to my friends and peers. I was obsessed with delicious calming smells as it personally helped me with my anxiety and get more in the groove with my yoga and meditation practices. After graduating I started looking into aromatherapy schools nearby and kept coming to this school called the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism who focuses on using herbs and vitalist practices in a clinical and therapeutic way. There they focus on holistic healing, centered on the root cause of disease and using the plants and elements that grow all around us to clear disease from the inside out.

So inspired and excited by this school I decided to apply and excitingly got in. My journey at CSCH was one of the most transformative experiences I’ve had to this day and I will forever be grateful to my teachers, the founders, and the plants. As I learned more, I realized this is something I wish to do every day, to be there for my clients and to spread awareness of the incredible power of the plants that grow all around us. While in school I also found reiki energy work through a health fair I visited and because of how much healing and growth it brought to me I decided to get certified in this incredible form of energy work to provide even more healing to my clients. I graduated the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism with a certification in Clinical Herbalism & Flower Essence work and shortly after opened up my own practice that I continue running to this day in hopes to help more of those struggling and searching for answers and support.

Not wanting to fully leave my essential oil company behind I decided to transform it into something I was more passionate about, something where I could truly showcase the power of plants and of all-natural healing, and that’s when Resiliency Herbals came to be. My intention with this business is to create all-natural herbal-infused products that heal the body from the inside out, unlike other skincare companies that simply band-aid the issue. I want my products to actually help people, to instill confidence and love for their bodies. I want to make a positive change for the better, to be there for my people in any way that I can, and to continue working with the plants in creative ways. Resiliency Herbals is an affordable skincare and health care line that I am so excited to share with all of you and truly hopes it brings a positive shift in your life too!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not haha. Startup costs have been an obstacle for sure, in the beginning, stages of production I tended to run into problems regarding sanitation or preservation amounts and would end up with moldy test batches, which unfortunately was a huge waste. But, shortly after realizing the issues with the help of a teacher at my school, I was able to fix the recipe so that this no longer happens. Other obstacles have been with finding ways to get my products out to the public, a lot of trial and error is involved but that is all part of the process so I try to keep my head up along the way. I think the biggest struggle I’ve personally had is facing the rejection whether it be from my clinical work or flopped launches and finding strength to keep putting myself out there. It can be vulnerable work, but I am so determined and so passionate about this work I don’t think there is ever going to be a point that gets too tough for me to not want to continue going.

As you know, we’re big fans of Resiliency Herbals. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business has two pieces; a clinical practice as well as an all-herbal product line. Regarding my clinical practice, I tie in the alternative modalities of clinical herbalism, reiki energy work, flower essence therapy, and yoga to clear my clients from the root cause of pain and suffering whether that be the physical, mental, spiritual, and/or emotional. I have a strong desire to be there for my clients, to hold their hands through the muck and crawl through it loudly and proudly together. A main priority of mine is personalizing my work as much as possible for each client, of making this work as specific to their body and their condition as possible.

Something that sets me apart from other practitioners is that I like to look deeper. I like to understand why the problem, symptom, feeling, etc. arises in the first place and what is this piece inside of us asking? How can we set it free and how can we heal from the root and adjust our lives to be in better alignment and balance with what our bodies and souls are asking?

Within my consultation practice, I specialize in women’s health (menstrual cramps/problems, hormonal imbalances, fertility awareness, etc.), gastrointestinal issues, eczema/psoriasis, acne, autoimmune, nourishment, insomnia, anxiety, and depression.

And then regarding the product line, I would say my specialty is simple clean effective skincare. I’ve personally had major acne problems since I was a teenager and haven’t found much success with skincare products until using these products. I like to use my clinical background with the different herbs and oils and create the most potent yet safe formula for desired results like skin repair, moistening, anti-aging, collagen boosting and so much more! Some of my most popular products are the Rejuvenating Face Serum, Coffee Face Scrub, Divine Body Butter, and Nourishing Hair Mask.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’ve found it is very important to take risks and to believe in yourself enough to take that bold step to make it happen. I haven’t always been a risk-taker, but I find when it involves something I deeply care and am passionate about there’s nothing that I let get in my way. I think in general it is a major risk to start up your own business at such a young age and with such little experience in the business world, some may call me naive for embarking on this journey but I am so determined and excited for what is to come!
