Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryann Muir.
Hi Ryann, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Growing up in a blue-collar town in southern Colorado, I experienced and witnessed a lot of financial hardship. My parents did not become homeowners until I was in middle school so we lived in rentals for my younger childhood. Because I was a little older when this happened, I witnessed the financial struggles and extreme hard work it took to become financially stable. Growing up in the environment that I did, I became tough and quickly learned if I wanted something different, I would have to work hard, be determination and budget! I have always put knowledge on a pedestal higher than anything else. If you have knowledge, you cannot be intimidated by anyone or any obstacle. I think there is a fine balance between book smart and real-life experience smart (or as some like to say street smart), to have one or the other is powerful but to have both is unstoppable.
After graduating from college, I worked a few jobs that were within my field I majored in but I knew I wanted more. My cousin and I took a huge jump off of a bridge and decided at 24 years old that we were going to fix and flip a house. We found some Hard Money financing, purchased a house, hired a few crews to do various repairs and remodels, and then sold it! It was a learning curve but overall, a success. I then decided to get my real estate license which I did from home while being a stay-at-home mom, studying at nap time, and after everyone else went to bed. While I was working on my real estate courses My husband and I then decided we should do another fix and flip together, and we did ALL the remodeling, just the 2 of us. This flip was extremely successful so after selling we immediately decide to build an investment property on vacant land in a rural area but a highly desirable summer vacation area. After GC-ing the entire project we are proud to say we now have a successful vacation rental property.
Now as a licensed Realtor, I work full time as a Realtor in Denver Metro and manage our vacation rental at Lake McConaughy in Nebraska, as well as balance being a mom and wife. I have experience working in property management, investing in fix and flips, fix and holds, build and holds, aiding first-time buyers, experienced buyers, sellers, and investors. I love working with first-time buyers because I get it, the struggle is real! I want to help others build wealth and develop the knowledge on the different possibilities to build wealth through real estate. I encourage these buyers to become investors to continue growing their wealth through real estate.
I love real estate because it is a tangible investment that people can easily conceptualize and manipulate physically to increase the value. Real Estate is more complex than a traditional investment because if offers more than a way to increase wealth, it offers shelter, security, and personal expression.
I get excited talking to people about their dreams and how they can achieve these dreams through investing in real estate.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest challenge honestly has been my own saboteur, getting in my own way, doubting myself. I constantly have to give myself pep talks and tell that internal voice that doubts me to get lost. I definitely struggle with confidence. I think people are shocked to hear this because I put on a tough front but it is a real thing that I have to overcome daily.
It’s difficult to take a jump of uncertainty but when you do and it pays off, it is better than anything ever given to you.
I think we can all relate that not giving up is a struggle in itself. Keeping in your mind that there is a reason I am putting myself through a particular struggle (a tight budget, living in a place you don’t necessarily want to, staying up late, or getting up early while everyone else is asleep to get studying or work done) because there is light at the end of the tunnel. All this hard work is for an end result. When you get there, it makes everything so much more valuable when you worked hard to get it!
