Community Highlights: Meet Sam Manges of The Colorado Painting Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Manges

Hi Sam, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started painting right out of high school in Cleveland Ohio. Well versed in all aspects of professional painting. I brought my services to Colorado in 2013. Without knowing anybody in the state, it took about 5 years of working independently before I partnered up for my second painting company in 2018. After growing that company to a multi million dollar painting company within 3 years. I decided to part ways and use the tremendous success and knowledge to start The Colorado Painting Company!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Far from a smooth road. One thing that comes to mind. I can recall my second year in Colorado injuring my knee and losing my dog in the same day. That was a tremendous low point and a sink or swim moment. By that time, I had established a wonderful network of Coloradans who helped me through the difficult time. I was also able to get my dog back as someone took him to a shelter.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Colorado Painting Company. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Our mission, “Protect and uphold the authenticity of the professional painting industry and its elements, ensuring they’re maintained to honor and inspire present and future generations.” Also, we must keep food in our child’s bellies and the lights on!

We specialize in all aspects of professional painting. From ultra high-end multimillion dollar homes and commercial tenant improvement projects to residential repainting or production painting. Also, we provide drywall and carpentry services. Keeping these three trades in house vastly improves cohesion throughout the entire project ensuring a professional finish each and every time.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see a lot of potential technology advancements within my industries. With AI and quantum computing at our doorstep, it’s only a matter of time before certain processes are taken over by new tool designs, new product application techniques and a potential reduction in human workforce. Also, I foresee our vendors continuing to increase their prices quarter over quarter until every last drop is squeezed out of us. With many of the top-tier paints well over $100 per gallon. It is going to make painting more expensive year-over-year.

Pricing:

  • $65 per hour per man *job minimum 8 hrs
  • $1.50 per floor sqft per substrate for interior
  • $3 per wall sqft for exterior repainting
  • $500 for pressure washing exterior
  • Single wallpapered wall start at $750 labor only
