Community HIghlights: Meet Sasha Smothers, Realtor with Keller Williams Advantage Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha Smothers

Hi Sasha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Real estate is in my blood, it has been in my life since I was born. My dad is a mortgage broker and my mom is a Realtor. I grew up surrounded in the conversations and different markets. I went with my mom to showings and open houses. My parents also flipped houses and I was brought along for the ride. This has taught me a unique perspective within the real estate market. I thought I would follow in my dads footsteps by taking over his business. Instead, I got my real estate license in 2017 back in Massachusetts (where I am from). I was working in property management full time and the company brought me out to Colorado in 2019. When I decided to stay here and Colorado was home, I got licensed. It didn’t take long to fall in love with the state! Long story short, I fell out of love with the company and in love with the state so the rest is history!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes and no. It is never easy getting started as a Realtor. It was a lot easier to get started in Massachusetts because my entire network was there. I had connections and it made the process smoother. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of building my community here to best support my clients. I was scared to pull the trigger and go full time. It was my husband who believed in me and supported me. Let’s be real, he still does. He is my rock! It’s easy to get caught up in the noise with real estate and how to start your business. You will hear people tell you a specific way to do it and say it is the only way. That is not true. You have all different personalities and backgrounds who end up in real estate. I tried a few different things to build my business and then took a step back and realized that I needed to look at the numbers and what I enjoy. That is being face to face with people! Once I accepted who I am, I doubled down and everything fell into place.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Realtor in the Metro Denver area. I work with buyers, sellers and investors. Everyone’s journey in real estate is different and so is each transaction. I am very hands on. Whether you have bought and sold a dozen homes, or you are a first time homebuyer, I treat everyone the same. Often times Realtors, especially in Colorado, pass a lot of the responsibility to their assistants once they get their clients under contract. I do not agree with this. I warn my clients that we better like each other because once we go under contract, we will be talking almost every day until we celebrate at the closing table. I go the extra mile to ensure a smooth transaction for my clients and to alleviate stress for them. I have an incredible team and support system behind me to navigate anything that may come our way. At the end of the day, I want people to know that I am not just here for them through the transaction, but I would love a life long friendship!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think my genuine care and outside the box thinking has helped me tremendously in my business. Since I grew up in the industry, I have experienced a lot. My parents really guided and supported me to build my depth of knowledge of the industry. This has provided a different perspective than most in the real estate industry. Real estate is emotional, whether that be the buy or sell side. Understanding what is going through my client’s heads and taking the time to navigate through it makes all the difference. For buyers, I seek off market opportunities. No matter the position you are in, let’s talk! There are a lot of preconceived notions about buying and selling real estate. Until we meet and talk, we don’t know exactly what is best for you. There is a path for everyone. At the end of the day, this is their journey, not mine. I am just honored to be along for the ride!
