Today we’d like to introduce you to Suchita Shrestha.
Suchita, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been drawn to fashion, with vibrant colors, unique jewelry, and dressing up being core parts of my identity. I love mixing pieces that feel unique and expressive, and over the years, many people have complimented my style. This led me to think: why not share it? My sister and I even started a small clothing business when we were younger, selling pieces we found cute and distinctive. Looking back, that’s where my love for both fashion and entrepreneurship truly began.
When I moved to America after marriage, I adapted to a new culture and a simple mountain-town lifestyle in Estes Park. Yet, I found myself missing the colors, textures, and creativity that fashion offered. When The Mountain Vault opened, it felt like a place where I could reconnect with that part of myself. I’ve always strived to work hard and learn as much as I can, because deep down, I was preparing myself for the future—to open my own retail shop. I envisioned a store that not only offered clothing but also provided unique, handmade gifts for customers in our tourist town. Brittany, the previous owner of this shop, helped me immensely in my learning journey. When she became busy with her life and family, she entrusted me to continue what she started and carry forward her vision. This trust means so much to me, and I am honored to make this shop my own while still honoring everything she built.
Now, after working here for a long time and owning The Mountain Vault, it’s more than just a store—it’s a dream I’ve always carried in my heart, and I get to live it every day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been easy—especially with the seasonality in a town like Estes Park. Winters can be quiet, and that pushed me to start thinking about ways to make The Mountain Vault sustainable year-round, like online shopping and digital marketing. I’ve had to learn so much about retail, customer behavior, and managing all the moving parts of a small business, but every challenge has shaped what the shop is today.
We’ve been impressed with The Mountain Vault, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see the fashion industry moving more toward sustainability, comfort, and individuality. People are becoming more conscious about what they buy — they want quality pieces that last, with styles that reflect their personality and lifestyle. For The Mountain Vault, I see us growing with that trend — focusing on timeless fashion, small-batch designs, and more locally made or handmade products. I also see more integration of online shopping and social media, connecting our small mountain boutique to customers everywhere while keeping that personal, local touch.
