Today we’d like to introduce you to Tami Trevino
Hi Tami, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has been a wild mix of creativity, curiosity, and resilience—with a sprinkle of chaos and a whole lot of fun.
I grew up as an honor roll student with a competitive streak, thriving in gymnastics, surfing, and even sandcastle building (yes, I took that very seriously). I’ve always loved standing out and making an impact, which led me to earn my master’s degree in User Experience Design—a huge flex that gave me the freedom to support my family and dive headfirst into my creative passions.
By day, I became a UX/UI Designer, crafting customer-centric platforms, analytical dashboards, and leading usability testing. People say I’m an exceptional problem-solver and a great resource, but honestly, I just love making things that actually work for people.
But let’s be real—I don’t just design; I create. I make resin jewelry, tufted rugs, unboxing videos, and pretty much anything that sparks joy. My YouTube channel and digital platform, Tami Makes Stuff, are my happy places—where I get to share my love for making, designing, and storytelling. Oh, and I even had a moment on Netflix’s Cobra Kai Season 6 (catch me in the background, looking cute and small).
Recently, life threw me a plot twist—a company acquisition and a layoff notice. But instead of seeing it as a setback, I’m treating it like a mid-season refresh. This is exactly why I created The Makers Lab—a digital community for creators and makers to share, learn, and collaborate. I want to bring people together, spark creativity, and build a space where ideas turn into reality (and where we all hype each other up).
At the end of the day, I’m all about staying fearless, adapting, and spreading joy through creativity. So, whether it’s designing, making, or storytelling, I’m here to create cool things, connect with awesome people, and have fun doing it.
Let’s make some magic. ✨
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a ride—definitely not a smooth one, but honestly, where’s the fun in that? Every twist, turn, and faceplant has shaped me into the resilient, creative, and resourceful person I am today.
One of the hardest things I’ve faced was losing my dad to cancer in 2017. That kind of loss changes you. It was heartbreaking, and grief is weird—it never really goes away, but I’ve learned to carry his charisma, humor, and strength with me. I like to think he’s still hyping me up from the universe, making sure I keep shining.
Then there’s the whole career rollercoaster. I put in the work, earned my master’s degree in UX, climbed the ladder to Senior UX Designer, and built some pretty cool digital experiences along the way. But then—plot twist!—a company acquisition and a layoff notice. Ouch. That hit hard. But instead of seeing it as a roadblock, I’m treating it like a creative detour—one that lets me fully lean into my passions and do what I truly love.
And let’s talk about the struggle of balancing creativity with financial stability—whew. I love making stuff—resin art, tufted rugs, unboxing videos, digital content—you name it. But turning creativity into something sustainable? That takes some serious hustle. That’s exactly why I started The Makers Lab—a space where creators and makers can share, learn, and collaborate. Because creativity shouldn’t be a lonely journey—we’re better when we lift each other up.
Through all of this, I’ve learned that resilience, adaptability, and a fearless attitude can turn any obstacle into a launchpad. My story is still unfolding, and honestly? I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Makers Lab Ltd.?
The Makers Lab is more than just a place—it’s a creative playground where makers, crafters, and curious minds come together to share, learn, and build cool stuff.
At its core, The Makers Lab is a digital space for creativity—whether you’re into resin art, digital design, tufting, DIY projects, or just love tinkering with new ideas, this is where it all happens. It’s a space I built because I know how fun (and frustrating) the creative process can be, and I wanted a place where people could collaborate, experiment, and make things happen.
🔥 What makes The Makers Lab different?
No gatekeeping, no egos – Just real people sharing knowledge and hyping each other up.
The creative process is messy, and that’s okay! – Not everything comes out perfect, and half the fun is figuring it out as you go.
For beginners AND pros – Whether you’re just getting started or have years of experience, there’s always something new to learn.
Hands-on content – I share unboxing videos, product tests, behind-the-scenes crafting, DIY tutorials, and some trial-and-error moments (because not everything works out on the first try!).
🎯 What am I most proud of?
That The Makers Lab is actually helping people take their ideas and bring them to life. Creativity shouldn’t feel intimidating or out of reach—it should be fun, experimental, and something anyone can dive into. Seeing people get inspired and actually start making things because of this community? That’s what keeps me going.
🚀 What do I want people to know?

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories? South Padre Island with my family—aka, the ultimate beach adventure! 🌊☀️
We’d spend hours baking under the sun, munching on snacks like it was an Olympic sport, and engineering some next-level sandcastles (we took our designs very seriously). Sand everywhere? Absolutely. Sunburns? Probably. Worth it? Every. Single. Time.
After conquering the beach, we’d head back to the condo, jump straight into the pool, and laugh until our stomachs hurt. The night always ended with good food, tired smiles, and the kind of happiness that makes you wish time could slow down.
Pure chaos, fun, and family love—exactly how childhood should be. ❤️
