Hi Theresa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, readers! My name is Theresa and I am so thrilled to be sharing a little about my life with you. I am an adventure seeker, single mother, and business owner that is full of energy! I’d like to take you back a little to give you an idea on where this zest for life came from. 2017 was a game-changing year for me. I turned 40, no longer a wife, started solo traveling, and felt something within me I had never felt before. I couldn’t get enough! Travel was both invigorating and therapeutic. I was a new person! Shortly after this realization I bought a travel agency. Today, my travel agency is ranked a 5-star in multiple locations, I have made elite status amongst my suppliers, and I am adding agents as we speak. What a ride it has been! Have you ever had that feeling that you are right where you are meant to be? That is where I am!

I have two children and they travel with me as much as they can. We are on a mission to see all 50 states by the time my daughter graduates from high school in 2027. As a single mother, I have my work cut out for me, but what a beautiful challenge! It brings me so much pride knowing all the things that I am instilling in my children that only travel can provide.

Solo Parent Travel has now become a passion of mine. I want other solo parents to know that it is ok to be scared, it is ok to be uncertain, but taking that first trip is so worth it! I now help solo parents with this process. I encourage, inspire, educate, and even provide trips for them to join in on if they rather not take that first trip alone with their children. This is an annual trip and we look forward to it each and every year! This year is Costa Rica!  There is not much in this world more valuable, than showing the world to your children! Interested? Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The fact this journey has not been a smooth one is a blessing. We learn within challenges and obstacles. Covid clearly was my biggest struggle. Not only were people not allowed to travel (therefore, I was not making any money) I was not allowed to travel. As I mentioned previously, travel was, and still is what makes me feel alive. It fuels me! Travel got me through some hard times and reminded me who I am. When I was not able to travel, personally, I found myself in a pretty low place, emotionally. Learning to survive with no income was one thing. Facing a deep, deep sorrow and loneliness was one I had not experienced before. In the end, I came out stronger, happier, and also busier than I have ever been booking travel and traveling personally.

We specialize in family travel, destination weddings, all romance travel (anniversary and honeymoon), and group travel. Outside of these things, I would love my readers to know more about Solo Parent Travel. I want to inspire solo parents to be courageous with their children. Be curious, always. There is so much beauty in opening up the world to your children that can never be replaced. Start small. Do a weekend road trip, fly to a beach, just go!

We do annual Solo Parent Trips for those that rather venture with other solo adults and have children to play with their own children. These trips are so fun and lifelong friendships from around the US are formed.

How do you think about luck?
Luck, huh?! Hmmm. I think “luck” comes from hard work and just being a good person. That is when luck finds you. I feel so very lucky in this life. I am living a dream. I am exactly where I am meant to be, but it all came from hardships, hard work, and being a good human.
