Community Highlights: Meet Timothy Renteria of RGV Social Beast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Renteria.

Timothy , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Absolutely. My journey has been anything but conventional, but that’s what makes it meaningful. Around the age of 20 or 21, I packed up and moved to Colorado to work with a close friend at Vail Resorts in Keystone. That decision kicked off nearly a decade-long chapter with the company, where I experienced nine unforgettable seasons—two in Lake Tahoe and another two in Wyoming. I loved the energy of resort life, constantly meeting people from all walks of life. I’m a people person at heart—lively, friendly, and laid-back—so that environment just felt like home.

At one point, I truly believed I’d be a “lifer” with Vail Resorts, but life had other plans. I developed severe sciatica that made it difficult to even walk, let alone keep up with the physical demands of the job. It was a tough wake-up call, but also a blessing in disguise. During those years, I had also been slowly chipping away at my Bachelor of Science in Digital Marketing, studying part-time. I’ve always had a natural knack for marketing—it just clicked for me. Learning how to strategically optimize not just campaigns, but even your approach to life, fascinated me.

In between seasons, I worked in fine dining to make ends meet, but eventually, I started to feel the weight of the seasonal grind. So I moved to Las Vegas, hoping to break into the world of entertainment, modeling, and brand ambassador work. It was an exciting pivot, but by the summer of 2025, I made the decision to come back to my hometown of McAllen, Texas, and finally finish what I started. I graduated on March 7, 2025.

Even before graduating, I had already accumulated 15 years of experience doing digital marketing for smaller companies. So it only felt right to officially launch my own digital marketing agency. I started building my brand and figuring out which services I wanted to specialize in. I decided to focus on three core areas that I’m deeply skilled in: website design (with platforms like WordPress, Elementor Pro, and GoDaddy), social media marketing, and SEO.

Today, I have my own office, my own clients, and a business I can call mine. It’s definitely a different experience spending my first summer back in McAllen since leaving all those years ago—but it feels like everything came full circle. I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be, and I’m just getting started.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest struggles along the way was the constant need to relocate. At first, the idea of traveling and experiencing new places excited me—and for a while, it was everything I dreamed of. But over time, the packing, moving, and starting over in new cities started to wear me down. It became emotionally exhausting, even though I was grateful for the experiences.

Starting fresh in Las Vegas was particularly tough. While I was still based in Colorado, some personal family issues began to unfold back home, and that weighed heavily on me. Trying to establish myself in a new, fast-paced city while also worrying about what was happening with loved ones took a toll on my mental and emotional well-being.

I had worked in countless fine dining restaurants and taken on event gigs—everything from bartending high-end galas to wild bachelorette parties. While it paid the bills and gave me some great stories, I began to feel something deeper pulling at me. My grandparents had always played a huge role in my life, and after so many years away, I realized I was missing out on precious time with them. They were getting older, and I didn’t want to look back one day and regret not being there.

So, I made the hard but necessary decision to pause everything and return to my small hometown in Texas. It was one of the most emotional and grounding choices I’ve made—but also one of the most rewarding. It reminded me of what really matters, and it gave me the clarity to move forward with intention and purpose.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories has to be playing football. From a young age, I truly believed I was going to go pro. I threw myself into every practice with full heart and focus, not just for the love of the game—but because I saw a future in it. I wasn’t just athletic, I was disciplined. I took leadership seriously, always trying to motivate my teammates and lead by example, even as a kid. Looking back, those long practices under the sun, the sound of cleats on the field, and the camaraderie of the team were some of the best moments of my life. Football taught me how to push through pain, how to stay committed, and how to lead—and those lessons still shape who I am today. Even though I eventually took a different path, the spirit of the game is still in me.
