Community Highlights: Meet Zach Vogel of HEROES TRAINING SYSTEMS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Vogel.

Zach, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Zach Vogel, founder of Heroes Training Systems. I grew up in a small town in the Midwest, and have always had a passion for fitness and the body and mind’s ability to do incredible things. I didn’t grow up with a lot of direction other than to simply work hard. But learning to work smart, leverage time and environments came down to great mentors, burning the gas to do things others were not willing to do. So today, my work is built around one core belief: real strength is developed through clarity, consistency, and trust. For over two decades, I’ve coached individuals, families, and teams toward better health and performance by meeting people where they are and helping them build systems that actually hold up in real life. Whether hiking into the crag, hunting or fishing deep into the backcountry, climbing mountains or racing in competitive events such as Spartan Race or Hyrox, I know what the needs are. I became a professional natural bodybuilder in 2008 after playing college football, moved to Colorado in 2013 and began competing in Spartan Race and Hyrox. My background in construction, leadership, coaching and building highly effective teams—experiences that shaped my respect for hard work, integrity, and follow-through comes through in all I do. I don’t believe in quick fixes or cookie-cutter programs. I believe in intentional training, standards, honest conversations, and a long-term approach to physical and personal development. Whether you’re rebuilding, optimizing, or leading others, my role is to provide structure, perspective, and support so you can move forward with confidence and purpose.

Training is vastly more than merely tossing a bunch of exercises together. That’s relatively easy to do, especially with AI. Training is a highly personal, thought out collective designs that fit both you and your needs as well as your training environment to ensure you maximize your time in a safe and effective system. I utilize advanced technology to demonstrate, guide, track and scale your results. Once you begin training in this format, you’ll wonder what you ever did without it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have had to learn myself better than I’ve had to learn anything logistical or economical. Learning my tendencies and my shortfalls and turning them into strengths or asking for help is some of the greatest advice I have been given. I have needed to dig within myself between my own ears, breastbone and backbone. The head and the heart. How bad do I want it and what is my thought process? Where and how do I invest my time? What is my mission and my vision? “Without a vision, the people will perish.” So I have had to be so very clear about what I want and study or learn from others who have gone before me to get to where I want to go.

For me, namely, how do I utilize my background in exercise science, experience and proven results and coach people both in person and online/remotely. My 2 biggest loves in my business are relationships and watching people win and achieve their goals. I love the fact that some people have the drive to train on their own with the direction that I give them, training where they are with what they have access to. They save time, money and resources. That is my bread and butter. Efficiency. They still get a coach and connection with me so that I can work and grow with them on their journey. A number of people still come and train with me in person, which is a gift in and of itself as well. But I have had to find a balance with it all, and play the long game. I can help more people remotely than I can in person. Both the client and myself win because we can both leverage our time and resources efficiently. So I have learned to customize and develop my training platform around that mission.

To circle back to the main question – learning myself is the biggest challenge. And it is an ongoing growth process, because things change over time. Ask for help when I need it, outsource things when necessary, so that I can be my best at what I’m gifted at.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Heroes Training Systems is a small private garage gym in Golden, CO. I prefer it this way as I can keep overhead low, and my services affordable, and we can get open air and train both indoor and outdoor in a relatively private setting in downtown Golden. I play great music and work really hard at moving the fitness/lifestyle needle for my people.

I specialize in training both in-person as well as remote/online programming with another CO company, TrainHeroic.

Areas of strength:
General Population – Strength Training and Hypertrophy (muscle building)
Bodybuilding – muscle building and fat loss
Sport specific and Youth athletics: wrestling, basketball (vertical and change of direction), football (change of direction and power), tennis, golf and cycling among many others
Tactical athletes – lift, throw, sprint and carry heavy loads
Runners – incorporating faster trail runs and more bone density to hand more extreme terrain
Cyclists – vastly improving FTP and muscular endurance and power
Hybrid athletes – Hyrox – the world series of fitness

We train hard – HEROES is an acronym. Habits – Effort – Resilience – Ownership – Execution – Service / not everyone makes the cut. I have a selection process. I charge more than just a cookie cutter program. I have systems in place that push people hard and they see great results, over and over again. My website takes people to the selection form, where there are also popular videos that answer people’s questions on training, foods and supplementation. I also partner with the team at Redbud Medical, in Denver who specializes in regenerative health services, peptides and women’s health and facial treatments.
