Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Pitner
Hi Adam, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My grandfather started building homes in Fort Collins in 1971 under Pitner Construction, my dad continued the business starting in 1998 under Pitner Homes
In 2008 when the market crashed, the construction industry suffered greatly. Pitner Homes turned from building new homes to helping homeowners remodel their homes. We took on everything from basement finishes to building decks and fences. Times change and we changed with them! Then as the market recovered and started to boom again in 2020 & 2021 Pitner Homes started to gain momentum. Our big focus was in high end remodels and now we are ready to take on more custom new homes.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Recovering from the market crash from 2008 and the number of “Big Builders” who moved their companies into Colorado. We found the competition heavy. In order to stay true to building a quality home and being competitive in our pricing we struggled to build new homes. That is when my dad started finding odd jobs, small remodeling projects and framing houses to make ends meet. The biggest challenge we face is getting into the new home market. Big builders have a monopoly and control the purchase of individual lots and won’t sell to smaller family owned businesses.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are general contractors that specialize in quality renovation and remodeling. The customer is always involved with the planning and design of their project. We will work with the customer to get them what they want. We make sure all of our sub-contractors feel the same way, and complete their work to high standards. We are proud that we are able to stay up to date with the latest trends and keep moving forward with in the construction industry. We stay connected with our customers and are willing to help them with any questions even after the job is done. We appreciate our customers sharing our contact information to their friends and family.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Going to construction sites with my dad and wear his tool belt that was way too big for me.
Learning how to use a hammer and tape measure. Watching my dad set trusses on houses.
He would walk 2 story’s in the air on a 3” wall with his tool belt on, a nail gun in one hand and a cigarette in the other, and he never fell off.
