Conversations with Alex Padgett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Padgett.

Hi Alex, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I was living up in Boulder Colorado going to school in 2017. I started helping throw events with a small bass/dubstep production company called Angry Neighbor. I was really into house music and convinced them to let me throw a few smaller house music shows at the venue called Absinth House. I eventually decided to break off and throw my own events under the 128 productions’ name.

We started with 4 core members but lost one when we moved our operation to Denver. Wesley Padgett (My younger brother) and Brent Steinhause made up the original 3. We moved to Denver and started to do a few small shows but quickly found out how much more of a competitive market Denver was. This is when I met the 4th core member and business partner of mine Rob West also known as RC3. We spoke and ended up hitting it off having a lot of the same goals and aspirations.

He came from a business background and we decided to combine forces and take a different approach to our events. We wanted to focus more on the production of the event. Adding different elements of art, sound, and visuals we wanted to bring a festival feel to partygoers in one night no matter how big the event was. After this the rest was history. A lot of hard work and dedication has been put into the 128 projects which have helped us become a new player in the Music Industry here in Denver.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For a lot of the events, we produce we have to start from scratch and build from the ground up. We find the venue. Book the talent, Sell tickets, Run the marketing campaigns, etc. We had a lot of trial and error when producing the events from start to finish.

What’s great about this industry is I don’t think the struggles ever go away. What I mean by that are music and entertainment and people are constantly changing. We are always looking for ways to enhance the experience not only for the concertgoers but also for the artists.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
For as long as I can remember I have always had a love for movies. I ended up going to film school in Boulder and wanted to move out to LA after I finished my degree.

I ended up hanging around here and decided that I could bring an element of film into our events. Our after-hours-themed events are what put us on the map. We would theme our parties and go the extra mile with production.

What are your plans for the future?
We are excited to announce that our first big production back from the pandemic will be on October 22nd. We are sparing no expense on production and can’t wait for everyone to see it. As for the future 128 has plans to expand and throw events outside of Colorado as well as work on our very own festival for 2023.
