Conversations with Amanda Bumbala

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Bumbala.

Hi Amanda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
From the tender age of 17, I knew I wanted to be involved in the cannabis industry. I didn’t know much more than that though. I was kind of lost. I didn’t know what I was best at or what made me happy other than the cannabis culture that I knew I wanted to be a part of for life.

Bouncing from job to job, in search of my best talents, I found myself searching online for another job, yet again. I had always thought about real estate in the back of my mind but never much-paid attention to it. That’s when I saw scholarships being given out to get through real estate school. I jumped at the chance to change careers with no end goal ahead of me. I took a leap of faith.

After receiving my license, I quickly learned I had to find a niche in the real estate market or I wasn’t going to make it. I thought long and hard about what I might be best at or most interested in. My mind just kept circling back around to cannabis. And that’s when the lightbulb went on.

“Why can’t I combine my love of real estate and my passion for cannabis?”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced branding myself at “The Cannabis Friendly Realtor®” is getting over the predetermined judgments of what a realtor should be. As open as Colorado is with Cannabis, there are many people out there who refuse to take me seriously. I choose to show the world true authenticity and create a judgment-free zone in the home buying and selling process.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a Realtor, I am responsible for using my qualifications and market knowledge to help clients purchase or sell residential properties. My duties include researching available listings that align with my clients’ criteria, scheduling showing times to give tours of available properties, and overseeing negotiations between my clients and a buyer or seller.

As a Cannabis Realtor, I welcome clients of all different backgrounds. In 2012, Colorado became one of the first states to legalize recreational marijuana. Over the past decade, weed has impacted everything from healthcare and tax collection to, you guessed it, real estate.

Whether it’s selling a grow house or even just showing a home near a dispensary, understanding weed’s impact on Colorado real estate helps me to serve the entire market that much better.

Between the rise of cannabis tourism and the ever-increasing popularity of marijuana (seniors aged 55-64 had a whopping 455% increase in usage between 2002 and 2014), is it any wonder that properties down the street from the dispensary are still in demand?

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Some of the essential qualities that I possess include negotiation skills, communication skills, and time management skills.
