Conversations with Amanda Tarbell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Tarbell. 

Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
In 1993 my dad (Jeff Tarbell) started ATM Mortgage with a purpose to deliver incomparable service and mortgage expertise while delivering the lowest rates/costs possible. After growing his company, he was bought out by a larger corporate company and continued to work in upper-level management in the industry. My mom (Kim Tarbell) was a stay-at-home mom and raised my sisters and myself (Amanda Tarbell) throughout the majority of these years. When we were entering out teenage years she decided to go back to the workforce and joined the industry as well and worked alongside my dad. When I graduated college in Spring of 2020 at the height of the pandemic many of my job opportunities dried up as companies were no longer hiring due to covid cutbacks. I decided to give the mortgage industry a shot as I grew up hearing so much about it. I joined the same corporate company as my parents and about a year and a half into my time there we decided we wanted to bring back the same mission and goals as my dad had set back in ’93. So, we took the leap and re-opened ATM Mortgage to bring the best possible experience to our clients. We have removed many overhead costs associated with elaborate office space, costly management, and operational infrastructure. Now we can truly deliver internet-based pricing with local, established, and experienced professional advice. The best of both worlds for our clients. We are so excited to be working toward these goals as a family and looking forward to connecting with even more of our community members in 2022 and beyond 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Through this process, we have come across many obstacles to learn from. When you leave a corporate company, you are also leaving structure and systems that you have come very accustomed to. As we have transitioned to ATM Mortgage we have had to learn and integrate new CRM systems, new application systems, new underwriting systems, and a new loan approval process. We have also had to learn how to build a new team dynamic, who would complete which tasks, who was responsible for what, and how we would handle issues should they arise. It is not an easy process but a very rewarding one 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our job is to assist our community with their largest and greatest assets, their homes. We help our clients purchase their dream home or refinance their current homes. 

We specialize in offering loan programs many large corporations may not be able to offer and at a competitive price 

We are most known for our quick, clear, and efficient communication and customer service. We are also known for our competitive pricing and efficient loan process. 

We are most proud that our clients choose to keep coming back as well as refer their friends and family, to us that is the highest compliment 

What sets us apart from others is our combined 44 years of industry experience as well as our willingness to go the extra mile for our clients. Whether that is providing multiple loan estimate quotes, always answering their call no matter what hour of the day, working on weekends, advocating for our clients on their behalf, and more. 

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have incredibly fond memories of being in my dad’s office as a child. I remember everyone in the office being so kind, I remember the big conference room tables and all the office equipment that seemed so grown up and official. It’s funny looking back now that I had no idea many years down the line, I would not only be entering the industry but starting our own company alongside my parents. Very much a full circle experience
