Conversations with Ashley Biggers

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Ashley Biggers again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Ashley, we are so thrilled to be connecting again and can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you have been up to. Before we jump into all of that, some of our readers might have missed our prior interview, so can you take a moment to reintroduce yourself?
Hello,
I would like to re-introduce myself. My name is Ashley Biggers CEO & owner of Candle Culture Company. I handcraft hemp- coconut massage candles and aroma therapy goods. I am a Denver native and got into making candles during COVID. Ive been in business for now 5 years.I received traction for my brand shortly after my rebrand from soy products to hemp. Hemp is a thriving industry and I wanted to make my brand more sustainable and user friendly for everyone. Unlike other candle brands everything is organic, repurposed & recyclable all the way down to the wax, wicks, and packaging used. I like to focus on the massage aspect of my brand as not many candles can be multi-purposed. I take pride in my brand to not only provide an unforgettable experience through massage but to provide a calming environment through aromatherapy. My target audience ranges from everyday candle lovers, small businesses and erotic shops – I like to take special attention to those markets that are a blind eye to most. I took a year off to focus on my personal life and now I am back with a luxury rebrand just in time for the new year. I could not be happier to share this new collection with the world. Its just the beginning.

Great, so let’s jump into an update on what you have been up to since we last spoke. What can you share with us?
If you are apart of the “Culture Fam” and followed my journey; thanks to our previous interview, I curated one of my biggest accomplishments which was a networking small business Pop-Up in 2021. This small business market event was a huge success with over 100 guest. All business owners including myself had the opportunity to push their brand, create community, and network. Shortly after that year I launched two seasonal collections for the fall (CCL Collection inspired by Drakes album :CLB” located at Lawrence and Larimer & a winter collection (Cuffin’ Season) located at the Museum for Black Girls. The following year 2022, I introduced wholesale and private label collections for events, industry nights, and private parties around the Denver metro area. During the summer I had the opportunity to be apart of CannaCulture & River North Media day party. I handcrafted candle party favors for all guest. Throughout the summer this created a buzz and I was contacted for more events in the cannabis industry. Going into February 2023, I was apart of “BHM Brunch” event for Valentines day, teasing my new massage oils that I officially launched in January 2025. Shortly after this pop up I hit a road block in my personal life and took a year away from my business to focus on my mental health. A little background from my previous interview – I started making candles in order to manage my anxiety and found candle making to be such a calming hobby-turned business. While away, I still was creating, still researching the market, and preparing for this pop up this past January into the new year 2025.One lesson I learned while taking my hiatus is that, growth is not linear;especially when you are a small business owner and a one -woman team. Each candle launch you can see the growth within my products and the quality is still unmatched. I have re-branded into a luxury candle brand over the last 5 years. My audience has broadened and I couldn’t be happier to be back.Starting fresh into 2025 I recently launched my new candle collection C’s Interlude. This collection took months to put together and was challenging to say the least. Coming out of a harsh year and pouring my time and attention back into what I love, I had to make this collection personal. The meaning behind C’s Interlude is that, nothing is wrong with starting over. This is just the beginning. It ok to rebrand as many times as you see fit and that’s exactly what this collection embodied along with my personal life. This collection, looks more luxurious, minimalistic, and sexy. I’ve introduced a few more Aromatherapy items and the focus is more about creating experience with my massage candles and oils. This collection smells amazing and has had great response from the community. My first pop up of the year was January 4th at Green Spaces. Such an amazing community & concept venue- S/o to Green spaces! I look forward to networking and working with them thoroughout this year. As a seasonal business I typically will only release about 2 more collections this year during my peak seasons; but I am looking to expand into those new markets and see what this year has in store for me. I am grateful to have such amazing supporters that understand Im human and continue to experience my brand along side me.

We have now arrived at one of our favorite parts of the interview – the lightning round. We’ll ask you a few quick questions to give us all some fun insights about you.

What do you want people to remember about you and your brand? What are some of things that you feel are most important, unique, special, etc?
Though there may be imitators, my brand sticks out because of the experience factor I provide. I have dived into a quiet market that not many people were looking into when I rebranded in 2021. I cater to a target audience that may not get catered to and I take pride in being different. From the moment you light my candles in your spaces, the aroma fills your space with fragrances to help your sensory load. I created a product that aids in calming your nervous system but also creates intimacy in a different light. I like focusing on the massage aspect of my brand. It’s always a great conversation starter when consumers hear that a candle can be used for “massage”. Their first thought is “is the wax going to burn me” “Why would I want wax on me?”, “How do I use this for massage?” etc. lol. Once I demonstrate and give information on the products and how they can be beneficial many are shocked by a product such as mine. Its a new concept that is still reaching the world and I’m happy to have tapped into that. Massage candles no matter the setting whether its in massage parlors, home with a loved one, or in your office- the versitality is unmatched- that’s what makes my brand unique and special. No matter if I put out a small collection or big – the experience is what I pride myself in providing for my consumers.
