Today we’d like to introduce you to Aundreana Trujillo
Hi Aundreana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started working at Hey Babe Nice Nails in 2019. Shortly after starting I had been the only nail tech working for the previous owner for close to a year. I knew that if I could keep the salon going for someonelse I could do it for myself. In 2020 I asked the previous owner if she would be interested in selling the business to me. She agreed and I took over and Re-named it to Nail Me! Hey Babe Nice Nails. I love my salon so much I knew if it wasn’t this salon that I would have one some where some day. My nail salon is unique just like me. I luv nail art and nails! I was able to only specialize in Gel-X nail extensions, nail art and softgel overlay manicures. Most of the art and Odditys in my salon are also all made by me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey was a bit hard. Right after I decided to take over Covid happened and I had to close the salon. I thought this was the worst timing. I had just gave everything I had saved for the salon. But once I was able to open so many people wanted book. Then I was able to advertise Gel-X and nail art on my Instagram and Google.
Then more people who specifically wanted Gel- X nail extensions and nail art started booking.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve been doing nails for twelve years now. I started doing acrylics then gravitated to Gel-X nail extensions in 2019. I’ve always been fascinated by nails and nail art. When I was a kid my mom and aunts would meet to get their nails done at Paris Nails on Colfax and Emmerson. I loved to go and watch and some times got my nails painted with black polish and white polka dots. Growing up I was very creative, choosing nails as my career has allowed me to express my creativity. I do all sorts of fun nails. I have clients who want custom nails for events. Nails inspired by songs, or freestyles of what I would like to try. Recently my good friend LuLu Krystals was on the Show Camp Wannakiki Season 6. I made seven sets of press on nails to go with the theme of the outfits worn by Lulu in the show. This was so much fun and exciting to watch and be apart of. My career is exciting, I’m my own boss and I luv what I do, and the friends I’ve made that luv to wear my art.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I’m a Denver native I Grew up in the Eastside of Denver. I’m very grateful to have a business on E Colfax.
