Conversations with Breahna Whitehair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Breahna Whitehair.

Hi Breahna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had an artistic desire. Creating, whether it be with paints, collage, pottery, welding, wood, etc. has always brought me joy. I come from a creative family with a low-risk attitude. That being said, I never really thought pottery was an option for me, what with the startup costs, space for equipment, and so on. After 10 years of having something missing in my life, I decided to take the plunge and go for pottery. I have not regretted a single purchase or decision regarding art since. Why? Because it brings me and others so much joy and it’s an investment in my happiness.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As I mentioned the biggest struggle was finding a space and having enough money to purchase the equipment needed. Since I’ve accomplished those goals, my most recent challenge has been finding enough time to create. Having a full-time job in marketing makes it hard to find enough time to run my pottery business.

Thanks for sharing that. Next, can you tell us more about your work? What are you most proud of?
My pottery is hand thrown on the wheel in Lakewood, Colorado and I use hand drawn line designs and color to make my work pop. A single mug takes hours to make from start to finish but holds so much more quality and love than any store bought mug. I’ve even heard that using a handmade mug makes any beverage taste better and I’d have to agree.

I’m most known in my career and personal life for ability to form and grow personal connections with people. I love meeting new friends everywhere I go and to spread kindness with a touch of sass. Working my full-time job in marketing, I specialize in being creative in an organized and strategic fashion. Unfortunately, my organization skills go out the window with clay and that is the space I save for messiness. I’m proud of my determination to run after what I want and my unending determination to grow and be better.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories are held spending time with my best friend and family in eastern Colorado on a ranch riding horses and searching for lizards and turtles.
