Conversations with Cabby

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cabby. 

Hi Cabby, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This all began with a passion for fashion! I was born in the infamous East Village Projects on the east side of Denver, formerly built on Park Ave West, they are no longer there now. I guess you could say that my fashion passion stemmed from growing up financially poor; my single mother could only provide the bare necessities for a family of 5, so buying the latest fashion was not in view at that time. Growing up in the harsh projects, I fell into the street life like many other young people coming from that type of environment; not to glorify it, but because the fast money afforded me to look the part & I did it well. That eventually led me to want to set myself apart from others, be different than the next guy on the corner, or from all who wore the known name brands. I always had a vision but it didn’t come clear until 2012 when I became a man & put away that part of my life to settle down with my own family. 2012 was the year that vision apparel came to fruition, rooted in my passion for fashion but envisioned & created through collective thoughts from my family. We have since taken it a step further & have incorporated our clothing line into our music business, EVG entertainment, which I also started with my family; my children & I are music artists! We now not only stand out from other people on the street wearing the known name brands but we stand out in the music industry with our own originality, looking different & sounding different. So here we are today with our own exclusive clothing brand, Vision Apparel, & our own music entertainment company, EVG Entertainment, that’s becoming well known as we’ve been featured on billboards in major market areas such as Denver, CO; Las Vegas, NV & Atlanta, GA & still looking forward to God’s direction & hand in our growth & future endeavors! 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think any business person or anyone who has started their own business can say it’s been a smooth road. The trials are what create the perfection if that’s even achievable. Our faith in The Highest God is what has kept us & keeps us. There are moments of failure & stagnation however those are the moments we are to be still, pray & wait on God. We’ve had to try new manufacturing, new clothing types, business ventures, or partners that have fallen off but overall those things just weren’t meant to be at that time however now we are blessed to work with a solid team, GodGang, our “family”, in which we all make each other better and grind that much harder. Being from the streets we are bred to adjust to the hustle! 

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are known for our consistency, dedication & loyalty to our clothing brand & music creation! I am most proud that I get to work with my family, my sons & my daughters are all music artists & brand ambassadors, of course. We have more than 25 projects on our EVG entertainment YouTube channel. We have many music artists & professional sports players that have supported both our clothing line and music. What sets us apart is our family’s love & dedication to our business and each other to see this collective journey become the biggest! 

What are your plans for the future?
My vision is to continue to put my hand in God’s right hand; seeking his direction & instruction in the maintenance & progression of our businesses. Furthering the notoriety of our clothing brand, Vision Apparel, through the consistency of releasing our music from EVG Empire to the masses! Can’t wait…the future for us is looking real bright!
