Today we’d like to introduce you to Daisy Villa.
Hi Daisy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, thank you for having me my name is Daisy Villa and for the past couple of years I have been doing real estate investing. My interest for real estate began when I was growing up. All my life my dad worked remodeling homes and he would sometimes take my sisters and I along with him so I got to see the flipping process. I knew one day I wanted to own properties just like the investors that he worked for. I finally made it happen back in 2020 when I purchased my first flip house. My husband and I took a trip to Kansas to visit family and we stumbled upon a home that had a for sale sign so we called the agent toured the home that same day and immediately put an offer. The seller accepted our offer and we purchased the home, and immediately started the remodel process. A couple of months after we also purchased our current home a fixer-upper and completely remodeled it too. While working on both of the homes I quickly discovered how passionate I was about the design aspect of flipping a house. You know selecting the tile, lighting, paint colors all of it brought me so much joy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any new path in life there have definitely been some challenges along the way, but I look at those challenges in a positive way because it’s what’s allowed me to learn and grow.
The biggest challenge for me is that I live in Colorado but I am sticking to flipping homes in another state so it’s hard to supervise the jobs as they should be. For example, in the flip home, I would love to be able to check on the remodel work as it was happening day by day but I couldn’t so I would have to take random trips throughout the months to see the progress or use FaceTime. Sometimes an idea that I had didn’t end up working out and I would have to pause on that project and wait to come down to see what other options there were. I also remember when the remodel first started, we purchased a lot of material, and a couple of days after I left and came back home, I got a call that someone had broken into our garage and stole a big portion of the items that we had bought. It was definitely heartbreaking because we had to purchased a lot of stuff all over again and it set us behind but it didn’t stop us. Remodeling two homes at the same time was definitely challenging but very exciting.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am starting off in the real estate world buying and flipping homes. Growing up my parents never owned a home they would always rent so we would move a lot. I’m very proud to be able to own a couple of homes and have my kids grown up in a house of their own with their own backyard, their own room, you know just their own space. It brings me so much joy to be able to show my kids that any dreams that you have are really attainable. From a young age I knew that I wanted to flip homes and I’m making it happen so anything is possible. House flipping is also very special to me because my dad was the one who influenced me into pursuing flipping homes and now, he has also worked in some of my home projects. I documented the entire remodel for both my flip house and my current home on Instagram so if anyone would like to see the homes they are definitely welcomed to check it out on my Instagram.
Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to continue to buy other flip homes and either rent or sell them. I am actually currently planning on purchasing a second property to flip so I’m definitely very excited to start on that. I hope to be able to grow this into a family business one day. Thank you for having me and allowing me to share my story with you today.
