Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Evans.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve grown up cooking with my grandma, mom and dad when I was little. I have always enjoyed food, the restaurant experience and dining at new restaurants. I went to school to be a life skills teacher and have been teaching high school culinary classes for ten years. My dad owned a restaurant and I’ve always worked in the food service industry so I thought why not start taking pictures of my food. I started my account in 2013 documenting my foodie adventures across Colorado, the US and my international travels. Now in my 10th year as a teacher and a foodie, I can say I’m so proud of where this account has taken me. I’ve made wonderful foodie friends, been a part of a podcast, been on the radio, organized a huge donation event during the pandemic, and gotten to experience food from all over the world. Sharing my love for cooking and dining has been so wonderful I can’t wait to see what the next ten years look like.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building a strong Instagram profile can be challenging and takes a lot of work and time. On top of having a full-time job, Coloradofoodie has become a part-time job in itself. Keeping up with emails, posts and collaborations can be a challenge. However, I’ve put in a lot of hard work to reach nearly 11,000 followers. It may not seem like much to some, but to me it’s a reflection of my efforts building this account since 2013. My followers have been built over the years because we all share of love for Food and I’m so happy to have my 11,000 foodie friends with me along for this journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I went to school to be a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher so I can teach life skills to teens. I’ve gotten to teach nutrition, culinary, relationships, life management, child development, prostart and more! I love the classes I teach and how much fun the kids have! Culinary has been my passion and my students really began to love the art of cooking through my class. It’s so fun to share the love of food with others! I’m now going on my 10th year of teaching. I’ve made it through a pandemic, remote learning and so many other challenges and for that, I’m proud.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I love to help restaurants spread the word about their new menus, openings, locations, etc. I’m also happy to help small business owners grow their following with content creation. I love collaborations but also want people to understand that this is a part-time job for me that requires a lot of work, driving (I live out East) and time to create content. Compensating content creators is something that isn’t talked about often but I think it should be. Companies have the funds for marketing and should use that to collaborate with content creators to help develop a variety of content to share on social media. Collaborating with me and compensating me for my work means that your business is reaching 11,000 authentic followers on Instagram and over 30,000 on TikTok. That’s a very large, organic reach!
