Hi Denille, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! Thanks for having me. I’m a mom of 2 kids (Weston,15 and Avery, 10), wife to the coolest husband ever for almost 22 years, and a longtime lover of all things creative. We live in Colorado which allows us to enjoy a lot of fun outdoor activities, and we also love to travel all over the world. Last year, we were lucky enough to spend 2 months in Brisbane, Australia. That was an incredible adventure!

I’m currently an abstract artist who loves playing in the paint. I like working with BIG canvases, and enjoy the process of not really knowing how it’s going to turn out. It’s very therapeutic! I especially enjoy doing commissions. It’s fun to hear what a client is looking for, and then being able to turn that blank canvas into something they love. Being an artist is such a wonderful gift!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

It’s never a smooth road as an artist! We’re always struggling to find our path and our voice. For me, just trying to stay focused is the hardest part. Over the years, I’ve learned how to turn my interests and hobbies into a way to make money. It’s taken time and courage to feel confident in this, but I’ve also enjoyed the flexibility to hop around from one creative venture to another or even do them all at once. I just LOVE creating things that bring people joy.

But all of this is about so much more than making money. Thanks to different opportunities and the support of friends and family, I’m able to work from home, spend quality time with my family, and also contribute to causes that mean a lot to us. And I get to glorify God through it all. For without Him, I’d have nothing. It’s been an interesting and sometimes frustrating adventure, but I hope I continue to grow, learn, and touch other’s lives along the way!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Since we last spoke, I’ve been working on a new River Rock Series. It combines my unique paint-pouring style with river and beach rocks. They are really fun and satisfying to create, and are largely inspired by our Colorado nature.

I’ve also really been pushing to get my stuff out there more because when someone buys art from me, all my profit gets donated to a charity or organization of their choice. I believe we can help make the world a better and more beautiful place with art.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I think luck always plays a role with artists especially. Who do you know? Where do you live? When might your art get noticed? I feel like I’m kind of in a holding pattern right now – just waiting to get more spotlight. I keep creating through the wait though, and I’m enjoying that part!
