Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustin Christopher.
Hi Dustin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Something Brewery first started off with three friends looking to follow they’re passion in craft beer and that was in David Allegrezza’s garage Home brewing. After about a year of home brewing and developing the much needed knowledge to successfully start a Brewery we all agreed to get a business plan started. We initially found a location in Westminster, CO but complications with the city lead us to pick a different location. And Brighton, CO ended up being a great location for us. Brighton had plenty of untapped potential and most importantly lots of thirsty craft beer drinkers. We started off small with a 3bbl system but with the awesome support of the Brighton community we grew into the 10bbl system we are today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Let’s be honest with each other, if your thinking about entrepreneurship it’s not going to a smooth road. But don’t let that hold you back, tackle that challenge head on and broaden your horizon. I do think that the skills the 3 of us brought to the table helped make that road as smooth as possible though. Brian Castillo, owner, got his business degree, had administrative background, and excelled in craft recipes. He is a big part of the successful craft beers we’ve been able to produce for our fans. David Allegrezza, owner, has his graphics design degree, superb marketing skills and years of bartending background. David is responsible for the awesome custom graphics you see on our products. And lastly Dustin Christopher, owner, has background in engineering, manufacturing, welding, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, computer tech. Dustin’s is your Mr. Fixit guy when stuff breaks and trust me things are always breaking. And the best part is all 3 of us know how to brew a delicious brew which helps keep production on track.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are Something Brewery and we specialize in unique, exciting, out of the box craft beer ideas. We are constantly throwing around new brew ideas that excite us or are even just down right crazy.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
It’s tough to foresee where the Brewery industry is going in the next 5-10 years. Of course COVID has affected us all and it has started to show its economic effects on us in 2021-2022. Trends are a tough one to predict. For awhile our most popular beers were our sours and for the most part still are, but demand fluctuates. Over the years we’ve became known for our sours and do our best to have a decent selection of sours on tap, but considering we always like to try new and crazy ideas it lets us test the market a little bit. A lot of brews are a huge hit but some unfortunately don’t quite get the traction we hope.
