Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Rhodes III.
Hi Eddie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am an artist and creator with over 25 years of self-taught experience. In 2023, I decided to open up a business and start growing my brand.
I collaborate and hire artists from around the world including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, South America, and Australia to create collectible art.
Some of the products my business has created include the Top 50 Football Greats collectible card set, the Top 50 Collectibles card set, the Popped Culture card set, and the Garbage Island 2024 wall calendar. I have worked with many great artists including Smokin’ Joe McWilliams famous artist of Wacky Packages and Garbage Pail Kids.
I also began working as a freelance artist for both Topps and Upper Deck trading card companies working on popular brands including Garbage Pail Kids and others I am not able to share at this time.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
So far so good. My business is slowly building. Some projects have been very successful while others have not.
No matter the case I have enjoyed every moment of the project and collaborating with other amazing creators. With that said most projects that struggle are the ones I learn the most from, so in a sense, are the most successful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I consider myself a fine artist who dabbles in cartooning. My forte is photo realism though the area I consider myself a specialist in is collectibles. Everything I create I try to make not only a fun art piece but also a collectible item. I am most proud of the projects I have managed where I can collaborate with other amazing creators and artists.
One aspect I strive to do is give other artists and creators an opportunity to show off their talents. It is my experience many artists are great at drawing but have no idea how to get their work, name, and brand out to the masses. That is where I try and direct.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
My goal is to shift from being the main artist for projects and instead be an art director for projects.
I see my products growing over the next 5-10 years in the collectible world. I also plan to continue to collaborate/work/direct with both famous and up-and-coming artists.
