Today we’d like to introduce you to Elaina Rodriguez.
Hi Elaina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always known I wanted to be a cosmetologist, doing hair and makeup to make people feel confident about themselves while sharing my creative side. I started my journey in California and moved to Colorado in 2015. Throughout the years I have made a commitment to my craft to always learn new techniques and trends to best serve my clients.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, I decided to shift my energy towards furthering my education in hair extensions, wigs, and other hair replacement options. I have since become an expert in the field having built on the hair extension knowledge I received while in California and perfecting techniques. I am now an educator for a hair extension company working towards national educator status.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. From moving states, and having to start over and build a clientele to pivoting specialties in 2020. Not to mention, the pandemic in total was as difficult as it was for the majority of people. It forced me to transition from the traditional salon to a solo suite. The solo suite has absolutely been beneficial and helped me grow as a business owner. I have luckily had full support from my family, especially my husband through all the ups and downs and changes these past few years.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a licensed cosmetologist, specializing in hair extensions and other hair-loss extension options. I am currently educating a hair extension company to level up other stylists wanting to upgrade their service menu and attract new clients. I pride myself in being able to provide a luxury hair extension experience, giving my clients full transparency on what to expect, how to care for their hair, and full products to be able to care for their extensions at home, among other details.
Another characteristic that sets me apart is that I am always searching out new techniques and methods to better service my clients. This has helped bring new approaches to hair that have enabled me to help someone with hair loss where traditional extension methods were lacking before. When I am not teaching or providing luxury hair extension services, I still provide traditional salon services such as color, highlights, haircuts, and makeup services.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I don’t have one childhood memory in particular but I loved spending our summers at the beach! I have so many memories from those summers, being able to wake up and walk right down to the water from our campsite. Telling scary stories by the firepit and finding sand crabs when we picked up wet sand to build castles.
