Conversations with Emoni Poloa-Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emoni Poloa-Jackson.

Hi Emoni, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Emoni I started brows 5 years ago I had interest in brows and always practiced on my sisters I fell in love with it and decided to get my aesthetician license it was the best decision. Year ago, I decided I wanted to do lashes I did some training classes it wasn’t the easiest lashing is actually challenging but I love a challenge and I fell in love with it so now I offer lashes I’ve had my ups and downs doubts in myself question myself about is this something I really wanna do or am I even good enough to proceed this in my future and I’m thankful that I have a strong team behind me that pushed me and believed in me. Starting a business and holding a business down isn’t easy especially when becoming a new mom, a wife a daughter a sister granddaughter, and being the oldest I’ve always had a Lot of responsibilities but I never gave up! I get asked how do I juggle with being a wife to a musician a new mom and keeping a business going… my answer is God; I couldn’t do it without the man above. Forever thankful and I can’t wait to see what the future holds

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles with a business and doing brows and lashes is comparison comparing yourself to others will literally destroy you and it’s easy to compare yourself because you’re on social media every day and you look at all these big people to do the same thing as you and you feel like well why can I be where they are and my work is just as good as theirs I struggled with that for a long time! you have to know within yourself that you have the talent to be just as big as people that do lashes and eyebrows for celebrities I was told that whatever you have interest in that’s what you’re supposed to be doing and that stuck with me and that made me stronger I know I have a talent and I’m not gonna waste it by being sad or discouraged because I’m not doing celebrity brows are traveling the world to do brows and lashes I’m at the place where I’m supposed to be at

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Coming out of high school I didn’t really know what I want to do and that’s when I decided that I loved doing brows when do the. In my life we’re doubting myself not knowing if I’m good enough so I ended up stopping for a while I went to college again for my dental assisting graduated I started working at dental offices and I literally hated it so then I started doing brows again what’s this song apart from others is I feel like I started doing brows when brows wasn’t really popular everybody had thin eyebrows and I feel like when I started doing eyebrows slowly but surely thick brows were coming back and everybody wanted them so many girls clients that I have came to me with thin brows and now today they have full thick brows I have a lot of clients that have been coming to me since I started.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have to give credit to of course the man above my grandpa for allowing me to start my business in his basement just starting so, of course, I didn’t have money to get a shop or to rent a booth he always supported me and pushed me to continue my business and to never give up my husband for his encouraged words’ wisdom and his love has made me stronger. My mom always made me feel I can do whatever I wanted to do being a single mother of six kids and seeing how strong she is and how she makes anything happen I know that’s where I get it from! I always looked up to Kelley Baker She inspired me I looked up to her so much and learned everything that I know from her I would stay up late and watch videos of how she does brows I still look up to her. My biggest supporters besides the people I already named Are my siblings I would practice on them so much and they never said no they enjoyed having nice brows The moment I had my son I knew everything to do is for him for his future and I never want him to see me give up I will get his sweet face and I say to myself Emoni you got this keep pushing through it’ll all pay off one day
