Conversations with Empress Pre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Empress Pre

Hi Empress, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Love and Light, I’m Empress Pre, born and raised in the Mile High City. One of the most defining parts of my story is my role as a caregiver for my grandmother and myself. My grandmother was just approaching her retirement years when I went to live with her at the age of four, and I was stepping into my teenage years when our worlds shifted. Caring for her during that time was both a privilege and one of the hardest experiences of my life. It required a level of maturity and resilience that I didn’t yet know I had.

While I was navigating the challenges of adolescence, I was also learning how to prioritize someone else’s needs above my own. Watching her health decline while doing my best to support her taught me patience, unconditional love, and the strength of showing up for someone even when you’re struggling yourself. At the same time, it was incredibly isolating, as I tried to balance my own growth and identity with the weight of responsibility at such a young age.

This experience shaped my empathy, perspective on life, and commitment to building connections with others. It’s a big part of why I’m so passionate about creating spaces for healing and storytelling through platforms like *Letz TalkQ*. My journey from those formative years to now has been one of resilience, growth, and purpose. Today, I am proud to say that I’ve turned those early challenges into a passion for uplifting others and creating meaningful connections, allowing me to live authentically and inspire others to do the same.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t been smooth—currently, one of the biggest challenges in my life is my health journey battling lupus. Living with a chronic illness is a constant balancing act. Some days, I feel strong and capable, while other days, the pain and fatigue make even the smallest tasks overwhelming. It’s not just a physical battle; it’s an emotional and mental one too, as I navigate the unpredictability and limitations that lupus can bring.

This journey has forced me to reframe how I approach life. I’ve learned to listen to my body, prioritize rest, and embrace the importance of self-care. It’s also taught me to ask for help and lean into my support system—a lesson I struggled with for a long time. Lupus has changed how I view strength; I’ve realized it’s not about pushing through at all costs but about honoring your needs and finding resilience in adaptation.

While this chapter of my life is undeniably challenging, it’s also been one of profound growth. My health journey has deepened my empathy and strengthened my resolve to live authentically. It’s a reminder that even in the face of adversity, there is an opportunity to grow, to heal, and to inspire others to do the same.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is rooted in storytelling, connection, and empowerment. I’m the founder and host of *Letz TalkQ*, a platform that creates spaces for authentic conversations about life, growth, and healing. Through my podcast and collaborations, I focus on amplifying voices, fostering unity, and inspiring others to embrace their stories unapologetically. I specialize in connecting with people on a personal level, whether it’s by sharing my journey or providing a platform for others to share theirs.

What I’m most proud of is the way *Letz TalkQ* has evolved into more than just a podcast—it’s become a movement that encourages people to live authentically and find strength in vulnerability. Hearing from listeners who feel seen and supported through the conversations we have is the most fulfilling part of what I do. Additionally, my collaborations with organizations like Mile High Tumblers 5280 and Athletics & Beyond allow me to extend this mission into communities, creating opportunities for youth and fostering growth beyond the mic.

Inspired by my health journey with lupus, I’m launching an extension of *Letz TalkQ* called *Inside My Health Journey* in January 2025. This new chapter will focus on sharing my personal experiences with chronic illness while creating a space for others to navigate similar battles. It’s about fostering connection and building a community of strength and healing, one story at a time.

What sets me apart is my authenticity and the way I approach storytelling. My own life experiences—caring for my grandmother, navigating health challenges, and overcoming personal obstacles—have shaped my ability to connect with others on a deeper level. I’m not afraid to embrace the messy, raw parts of life, and I believe that’s what draws people in. *Letz TalkQ* isn’t just about telling stories; it’s about building a community where people feel safe, valued, and empowered.

At the heart of it all, my work is driven by the belief that everyone has a story worth sharing and that those stories have the power to heal, connect, and transform. That’s what I aim to do every day—help people see the beauty and strength in their journey.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If I could offer one guiding principle to those just starting out, it would be this: **believe in the power of your own story.** No one else has lived your experiences, dreamed your dreams, or faced your challenges—and that’s your greatest strength. Starting something new—whether it’s a career, a passion project, or a personal goal—can be intimidating, but don’t let the fear of failure hold you back. You don’t have to have everything figured out from day one. What matters is taking that first step and allowing yourself to learn and grow along the way.

One of the lessons I feel grateful to have learned throughout my life is the importance of setting boundaries. It’s so easy to pour all your energy into your work, but without balance, burnout becomes inevitable. Protecting your time and mental health isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. You’re the foundation of everything you’re building, and taking care of yourself allows you to show up fully for your goals.

I’d also encourage people to lean into authenticity. When I first started, I worried about whether I was “doing things the right way.” What I’ve learned is that there’s no one-size-fits-all formula for success. Your unique story, perspective, and voice are your greatest assets. Don’t be afraid to let those shine—they’re what will set you apart and make your work truly impactful.

Finally, find your community. Surround yourself with people who uplift you, believe in you, and aren’t afraid to challenge you when needed. No one achieves success alone, and having a strong support system makes the journey so much richer. Be open to collaboration, mentorship, and learning from those who’ve walked a similar path.

Starting out can be daunting, but it’s also where the magic happens. Trust yourself, stay curious, and remember that every step forward—no matter how small—is progress.
