Hi Fork Around & Find Out, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Fork Around & Find Out is Greeley’s first Restaurant Week style campaign. This started with a few business owners partnering up with local organizations to help celebrate Greeley’s restaurant scene.
Last year, a lot of us noticed Restaurants were struggling, and some unfortunately were closing permanently, so Matt Estrin, of 477 Distilling as well as City Councilman Ryan Roth reached out to Greeley’s Downtown Development Authority and the City Of Greeley to see about the potential of producing a Restaurant Week style campaign to help celebrate our restaurant scene. All partners met up and invited other restaurants to form a committee, and from that committee, Fork Around & Find Out was created.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As with starting anything for the first time, there have been struggles, but with having our intention of the campaign always in mind, those struggles have been taken head-on.
Greeley has over 260 restaurants, so communication with as many of them has been a challenge, so personal outreach has been how we’ve tried to have as many as we could participate.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Fork Around’s direction is celebration. At times we don’t realize how much work it takes to be a local restaurant and a local business. It’s a very vulnerable, personal investment, and we think that need to be celebrated.
How do you think about luck?
Luck only happens if you put effort into the things you want to achieve. Being our first year attempting a Restaurant Week, we understand that our expectations may not be met, but having seen the idea and execution through is a big accomplishment, and will help us make sure we elevate our goal for next year.
