Hi Francesca, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started bartending part time seven years ago to earn extra income as a single mother. Two years later, I transitioned into full-time bartending to support my growing family. At the time, I was a young Mother and bartending provided me the flexibility I needed to balance work and family while also ensuring financial stability for my children and myself. The one part about bartending I’ve always enjoyed is just being behind the bar and interacting with people. Fast forward seven years and I’ve taken my bartending experience to the next level by combining my love of bartending and people turning it into a small business that is truly people-focused.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am fortunate that I have several role models of successful business owners in my family and friends circle. They’ve truly helped me see the perspective of a business owner and shared their ups and downs so I feel like I got a crash course in entrepreneurship before I even started my own venture. As a result, starting my business journey has surprisingly been smooth and it’s been a fun learning experience. I do struggle with the fear of failure and sometimes question my own confidence – imposter syndrome is a real thing! However, being able to do something I truly love has helped me push past those doubts and focus on growing my business while providing the best experience to my clients!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Behind The Bar brings the bar experience to you! It is a customized mobile bartending service dedicated to creating unforgettable bar experiences at private events. I take great joy in using my expertise to enhance celebrations by bringing a fully equipped bar directly to you from the actual bar to right down to themed napkins and straws. Our motto is that while going out to the bar is fun, having one come to you is even better! Especially when it comes with your own personal bartender!

With my bartending service I’ve been able to continue to do what I love, while putting my own twist and personal touches into each event. It’s that extra touch that really takes any event to the next level and people love it and refer me to others!

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
We have already seen a shift in the bar-going experience from themed bars to pop up bars to mocktails and the sober-curious movement. People really focus more on the experience and the aesthetic and a having a curated selection of drinks more than the traditional bar experience that our parents and grandparents had where a bar is limited to what their suppliers offer.

Over the next 5-10 years I predict that bartending will continue to shift and branch out more into the mobile bartending world due to its customization options and the level of personalization. After COVID, people really are intentional about their time with one another and their experiences. We meet that need with Behind the Bar and its private bartending experience that elevate any event!

Whether it is for a large corporate event, or an intimate gathering, having a private bartending service to serve customized drinks for your audience that include traditional drinks and mocktails (which are becoming more of a trend) makes a huge difference while entertaining your guests.
