Conversations with Gigi Gehrke

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gigi Gehrke

Hi Gigi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was a recent physician assistant graduate when I was asked to be my best friend’s maid of honor in her wedding. That meant I was tasked with planning a bachelorette party. However, that was going to be a challenge with a limited budget as a new graduate. After not finding exactly what I wanted for party decor and gifts within my budget, I decided to make everything myself. In between my job search and interviews I watched countless YouTube videos to teach myself how to make personalized gifts and decor. I had no idea that my designs would be such a big hit at the bachelorette party and that it would launch my passion project, G Marie Designs. Since then, I have been helping maid of honors, brides, grooms, and party planners elevate the little details of their events!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Each time I make a new product or design, there is always a learning curve. Slight fabric or material differences can make a big impact on the outcome of a design. There have been many trials and errors with new products, but I have loved learning along the way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I make custom party decor and gifts for all types of events – bachelorette / bachelor parties, grad parties, birthdays, bridal showers, etc. I have been known for my custom trucker hats. My hats are unique because I work with the customer to create a completely unique design for their event. Other very popular products include drink stirrers, custom bags, and koozies. I collaborate with party planners and think outside of the box to customize designs, decor, and gifts to make their parties extra special. I believe it is all about the little details, and no matter the budget, you can have personalized and unique elements that make your event even more memorable.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
To teach myself new crafting and design techniques I love going to YouTube or Instagram. In my free time, I love listening to The Huberman Lab and Giggly Squad Podcasts.
