Conversations with Hunter Bates

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hunter Bates.

Hunter Bates

Hi Hunter, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi there, my name is Hunter Bates, and I’m a local musician here in Denver.

I started Mean World Records with some of my favorite local musicians Jake Demarco and Jason Kaplan, both of whom have been current/former bandmates. Our goal is to uplift the local music community, and create some cool ways to support our artists and other local musicians!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So far, it’s been a super smooth road, just a lot of navigating through venues and promoters and finding the people that best align with what we’re trying to do.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We currently work to support our artists with booking, marketing, growing their social platforms as well and growing their fanbase organically.

Currently, I play bass in Shady Oaks, and guitar in The Study Abroad, two of the artists on our roster.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Creating makes me happy, being able to support cool music and build a community of like-minded individuals.

Nothing makes me happier than being involved with local music, whether it’s being on stage or just talking to people at the merch table.
