Hi Jake , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started Rocky Mountain Clean Crew in 2024 after being caught up in a series of unfortunate, recurring corporate layoffs, and ultimately, a little divine guidance. The best part about being rejected, if you want to call it that through my three layoff experiences in three years, is knowing the value you bring to the table and having the ability to thrust yourself into exponential, personal and professional growth with determination. I can’t say I’ve ever slept on myself. Although I learned so much from those experiences and the people I worked with and learned from, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial and leadership spirit living inside me and took this final push “out” as an opportunity to present the value I see in myself, to others, through the value of a clean environment, both in the commercial and residential spaces. Cleaning has always been therapeutic to me, oddly enough, having found it gives me a more centered nervous system. Some of this runs in the family, too, naturally, as I come from a family of service workers, including in the cleaning industry. My experience in the broader janitorial industry, including distribution, sales, and sales leadership has allowed me to collaborate with esteemed national, janitorial and facilities brands – many of which I’m sure resonate with so many of VoyageDenver’s readers. Through those experiences and a recovering post-Covid economy, I recognized a critical need for cleaning technicians and consultants who genuinely care about their work and the people they serve. Cleaning is often a grueling and thankless job, yet it has a profound impact on our daily lives. I know firsthand that working and living in a clean environment fosters a positive attitude and enhances the overall experience for oneself, clients and employees, and my passion lies in not just the process of cleaning, but in understanding the science behind it and the well-being it promotes. Rocky Mountain Clean Crew is affiliated with ISSA, the world’s leading trade association for the cleaning industry, and a proud partner of Cleaning for a Reason, a charity providing donated cleaning services for cancer patients in need. Giving back is something important to us, because we’re a heart-centered business, with our community in mind.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think anyone who’s ever started their own small business would say it’s a smooth road. However, I am challenging and motivating myself every day to make this a successful venture because I believe in myself and in the business. The struggles of starting out as a small business include getting your name out there and ensuring that people trust what you have to offer—even that you’re a real person or business. It takes time to build that reputation in the community, but we are committed to building a brand in the Denver community that people recognize as a premier brand. but also, one that strives to be a voice that looks out for those in our community.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Rocky Mountain Clean Crew is a building service contractor, or more simply, a commercial and residential cleaning company – based in Denver, Colorado. We offer single services in addition to residential and commercial cleaning plans, which can be found online at rockymountaincleancrew.com.

What sets us apart from others in our industry is our boldness, edginess, and inspiring approach. We understand the value of building unique and personal relationships with our clients while providing our services.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I think it’s been a mixture of both good and bad experiences. I can look at many events in my life as both—a closed door or a setback that has ultimately led to something more purposeful and valuable. I see that as such.

You can toggle between the extremes of good luck and bad luck through motivation, strength, and determination, which I believe has always been one of my strengths. Even during times when I struggle to see my own value, I eventually return to a place where I recognize, appreciate it, and wish to share that with others in a way that is also meaningful to me.

With every challenge, you have the ability to turn it into as much good as you wish to create in your life.
