Today we’d like to introduce you to Javier Ascoli
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello! My name is Javier Ascoli, I am 23 years old and from Guatemala City. Since I was a little kid, I’ve been a sports fan, especially a Real Madrid fan (soccer). I started to watch the NFL when I was 13-14 years old and since then, I’ve been a huge fan. As I began to understand the game, I became a bigger fan. The game that was on TV was a Denver Broncos game, they won the game and became a fan of the team. A few years later, I got a Peyton Manning orange jersey as a Christmas gift, as time passed I enjoyed the game even more. I saw my favorite team win Super Bowl 50.
A few years later, the pandemic came during my senior year in high school. Social media was growing and I decided to start an NFL page on Instagram. I do not even remember the name it had, but basically, I just screen-recorded football highlights and then posted them on the page. Then, I realized and started thinking that posting highlights won’t get me to anything. So I started posting NFL content and then I started making graphics on Power Point so the content could look better. Once I started to gain followers, I started to get ideas for the name of the page and got to what it is today … Power Football. I asked my aunt, who is a graphic designer for a logo, and started to post better content. I started to learn on my own how to use Photoshop to get better graphics. At the same time, I started to post Draft content, fun facts about the NFL, fantasy football stuff, and realized that for the page to get bigger, I needed to do something different, something that made the page unique. So I started to reach out to college players, NFL players, retired players, agents, agencies, and analysts to do interviews on my page.
To this day, I have gotten over 200 people related to the NFL and/or the Draft to do interviews, while still posting NFL content on my page including Jordan Schultz, Taylor Bisciotti, Quinn Meinerz, Raul Allegre, Reggie Barlow, Brad Johnson, Dexter McCluster, Chandler Zavala, Chris Gronkowski, Tony Casillas, Jake Hansen, and Logan Paulsen among others.
In 2024, I got multiple Draft prospects for interviews, 8 got drafted, and others made their respective teams as undrafted free agents. The eight players are: Brandon Coleman (WAS), Tyrice Knight (SEA), Jordan Magee (WAS), Tejhaun Palmer (AZ), Khristian Boyd (NOLA), Kamal Hadden (KC), Ryan Flournoy (DAL), Nathan Thomas (DAL). Jalen Coker (CAR), and Hogan Hatten (DET) are the bigger UDFA names.
Additionally, an opportunity was presented to be a writing contributor at Predominantly Orange, a Denver Broncos website by Fanduel. Since 2023, I’ve been writing articles there, and up to today, I have written over 100 articles. In December 2024, I got media credentials to cover the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, but due to personal reasons I was unable to go, but at least, my page got recognized, and hopefully I can make it in 2026.
My dream has always been to work in the sports industry, and I think that the time will come. I wanted to study something sports-related, but there was nothing in my country and it was very expensive to go somewhere else, so I decided to study industrial engineering in Guatemala, while still putting content on my page and writing Broncos articles, with the hope that someday my dream will come true.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. First of all, being international has been tough, especially to get connections within the industry, but that hasn’t stopped me from grinding and putting together the best content and articles. Additionally, I knew nothing about graphic design and how to grow an Instagram page, but I started to learn and have been improving day by day.
Also something tough is that the page has been growing but finding the algorithm for it to grow faster has been difficult.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work at a big-name company here in Guatemala. I am in charge of managing the digital channels of the company. My main goal is to get as many sales there while finding strategies to grow and expand. Additionally, I help in the marketing area, which has helped me with my NFL page. Learning every day and watching all the behind-the-scenes from the company, while helping them with my knowledge, and watching the positive results has been very satisfying.
Now, regarding my page, work has not made me quit from posting quality content. As I have mentioned before, interviews with people inside the sports industry, especially the NFL has set me apart from others.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am open to work or to receive support. You can send me a DM to my Instagram page (@powerf00tball) or send an email to powerfball@gmail.com for anything football-related. You can collaborate with me by sharing my page, and also if you know people inside the NFL world, I would be more than grateful.
Someday I would also like to do my website to publish the interviews and NFL articles.
