Conversations with Jessica Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Taylor.

Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
How deep should I go? After a long history of theater and on-camera work, a successful entrepreneurial pursuit in Denver, and 10 years of staying home with my three sons, I was ready for a career that brought together my acting chops, and business acumen and that fit a flexible lifestyle. My mom introduced me to a friend who was a voice actor, and I couldn’t believe how perfectly this would all come together.

Once I decided, I leveraged some old clients who were in the VoiceOver community, and just went hog wild with education and creating my demos. I was signed by Denver’s voice-over agency, GoVoices, and quickly booked a huge National job for NatureMade that completely changed my life and what I knew could be a voice-over career. There have been ups and downs, but I’ve loved being a part of this eclectic community of voice talent.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Haha, of course not. While it felt l like an avalanche of bookings at first, it slowed way down after my initial success.

There were several months at the beginning where I didn’t make much money and was wondering how I had booked such a big gig right out of the gate!

Now I know that it’s just the nature of this industry. Be ready for the lows and the highs. Thankfully I thrive on variety and can usually find a silver lining in almost every situation, so that has helped me survive those low points when the jobs just aren’t coming to me the way I’d like them to.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a voice-over artist who can be heard worldwide on TV, the internet, social media, corporate narration, training content, explainer/whiteboard videos, phone systems, and more.

You’ve heard me voicing for Lincoln Financial, Dixie Paper Plates, Naturemade, SalesForce, Nespresso, Eucerin, CVS, Paramount Plus, and many more.

What matters most to you?
Great question! What matters most to me is my lifestyle and how my career supports what I want to be doing as a whole.

I love the flexibility I get from voiceover and how I can fit in sessions to fit in with my demands as a busy mom, which revolve around my three boys who are very busy in sports and music pursuits. I know someday I’ll have more time than I want to be in my studio working, but right now I need to soak up as much of that Mom time as I can!
