Today we’d like to introduce you to Jj Ortiz .
Jj, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
2021 was a year to forget and a year to remember for me. Having just dropped out of college and having no job coming back to Colorado, and I truly did not know what I would do with my life. I had started making music to express my feelings to myself after losing the only person who truly understood me (LLA) and being homeless for multiple months at a time. My life completely changed. I started to see life more as a “live at the moment” deal. Taking in every emotion and feeling I feel in the current moment. As a youngin, I always thought about having fame, money, and all the things anyone would want to live a rockstar lifestyle. And the music, I genuinely believe I can achieve those goals, dreams, and ambitions. I’m only in my first year of making music, and the support has been beyond more than what I ever expected. What had started as just a way for me to express my feelings, pain, sorrow, accomplishments, and achievements Became something that the world could feel. Something that people could listen to, sad, happy, lost, or intoxicated. I just love being able to make people feel some emotion through my music. I haven’t made it too far yet. And even once I do make it far, no way ide ever stop to make it even higher. Because to hear a heart-to-heart “ I’m proud of you” from those around me who saw where I indeed came from. Is all I ever need to know is I’m doing good in life, regardless of who is and isn’t standing by my side.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced?
I’ve faced many challenges through this whole journey so far. My biggest challenge was going into the music scene and connecting myself with those already a part of the rap scene here in Colorado.
So finding a studio, engineer, people to help book shows, and so on
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What I specialize in is a new type of rap genre. I don’t know what kind, but it’s something different. I’m just more known for making simple songs that are super catchy and easy to rap. What I’m most proud of is having a good amount of views through sole promotion through social media and meeting people in person.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Best part of the city is that once you get a solid fan base. Most people stay super loyal to you and your progression.
Worst part of the city has to be the fact that to many people act celebrity or huge after a little bit of clout
