Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Joy
Hi Johnny, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I personally am a 4th generation COS Native.
I have worked in hospitality, food & beverage and radio for the majority of my adult life, I have overcome a 2 decade battle with alcoholism to lead me to nearly 11 years of sobriety. I met my wife 10 years ago, we have 2 beautiful girls and we purchased and revived the Local Motive Party Bus last April
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Sobriety has been a smooth road surprisingly! I have had the opportunity to help hundreds and speak to 10’s of thousands.
In regards to the bus business, there are so many costs we weren’t prepared for but we also know this is part of what we signed up for! We have an incredible team, a great concept and we know that this is needed and will be a success!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our business caters to, for now, the local business community of COS as well as private rentals and community support for the public and kids events as well. There is nothing like what we do, and we will expand our reach to the front range in the next year and then statewide following.
Personally, it’s a little ironic that the sober guy owns a party bus but it works perfectly. I am very open about my story, my sobriety, my former struggles, all of it. This helps others realize they can find their way out no matter how dark it may seem. I have compiled a sizeable following on social media and am known as a motivational or inspiring figure though this isn’t how I see myself, I am just a guy that decided to keep on living and helping as many people as I can through business or recovery.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Colorado Springs is my home. Will always be my home. My great great grandfather came from England and met William Jackson Palmer in Cripple Creek and helped to found the city. My 2nd cousins used to
Own the Broadmoor hotel, so my roots are deep. The scenery, weather and now the explosive growth will keep me here for as long as I can see!
