Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Trinh
Hi Julie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello! I always knew I loved storytelling and cameras! It all started in high school when I took my first journalism class 14 years ago. My love for the journalism field grew each year. By senior year in 2013, I reached my goal of being Editor in Chief of our yearbook. In 2018, I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelors degree in the Broadcast Journalism field. From there I had the opportunity to become a Journalist and an official News Anchor. After working in the industry, I realized I wanted more freedom and control of my schedule. I discovered a world of Wedding Photography shortly after. From the first wedding I worked I knew I this was going to be an important part of my life and career. On January 22, 2020 Julie Trinh Photography was official open for business!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a company from scratch and joining the entrepreneurship world is a complete rollercoaster with a vast amount of struggles. For starters, a wedding photography business requires a wedding photography portfolio. With my photojournalism background I had plenty of work- but none regarding weddings. Finding a mentor and working as a second photographer solved that issue. Once I booked my first wedding a true snowball effect began. Another big issue I faced was opening Julie Trinh Photography on January 22, 2020, two months prior to covid hitting the world by storm. Adapting to changes is how my business survived during the pandemic. “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most responsive to change”. Charles Darwin
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
They should know that my photographs of their love and wedding day is built based on a journalistic approach. All the candid heartfelt hugs with their love ones, the sweet soulful first looks, the confidence in their own portraits, and electric dance floor vibes are all REAL moments.
The memories I capture are all raw. My art is focused on being intentional and an authentic storyteller. Being a photojournalist first and creative art director second. My strong photojournalist approach to capture emotion and authenticity is what drives my brand to stand out.
Also that I do travel! I am an International Wedding and Elopement Photographer.
Currently I am focused on four major things:
- My upcoming amazing 2025 wedding season
- A few passion projects: Travelers Puzzle that will benefit Mental Health Awareness and a Print book series including film and digital photographs that will be donating a percentage of proceeds to various charitable organizations.
- Getting ready to photograph New York Fashion Week in the Spring 25’ Season!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
As a child, I was extremely fun-loving, optimistic, creative, outgoing, friendly, and competitive. My childhood past times involved a creative imagination outdoors putting together new games and challenges as well as spending hours competing in sports. I played volleyball for fifth-teen years. I spent middle school, high school, and college involved in many extra curricular activities and sports.
