Conversations with Kaylyn Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylyn Lewis. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Kaylyn Lewis is a 24-year-old hard-working full-time mom, esthetician, spa & jewelry business owner, influencer, and singer/songwriter. Although she’s a busy woman, she always makes sure to make time for her loved ones, and sometimes she just likes to stay at home with her son and her boyfriend. Kaylyn was born on October 9th, 1998 and grew up in Naples Florida until she and her family moved to Colorado at the end of her junior year when she was 17.

All of her life she was surrounded by music because lots of her family members are or were in the music industry at some point. Ever since she was a little girl she began to perform for open mics, school events and paid gigs starting at age 15. Kaylyn sang for the youth choral at the Philharmonic of Naples, FL when she was only 10 years old and sang the national anthem for the Boston Red Sox game in front of thousands of people at age 16.

She wouldn’t only sing for all her school events and games, but she also got to sing on TV for a morning show on ABC News. She has been singing and writing her own original songs that she has been recording in the studio since she was only 15 years old. She released her first single called “I’m not the one for you” on Easter Day in 2020 and it’s on all music platforms. Kaylyn isn’t just an R&B/Pop artist, but she also does Christian and other genres of music as well. She’s also currently working on more original music that will be released soon so as to keep up with Kaylyn and her musical journey. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Kaylyn and her family have suffered immensely by losing so much of her family from suicide and have had four generations of suicide in her family. She never got to meet her great-grandfather or grandfather from her mother’s side because they both took their own lives before she was born. However, Kaylyn got her musical gifts from her mom’s father and his name was Henry Lewis. He was an amazing singer, guitarist, pianist, and songwriter, and was a part of the record label Burgundy Records before he passed away. She never got to meet her biological father’s dad either because he was killed before she was born as well. Drug and alcohol addiction is another big issue that Kaylyn and her family have suffered with. Kaylyn’s biological father wasn’t in her life very much in her earlier years in life because he was in and out of jail and rehab but they’ve built a great relationship over the years and they try to visit each other whenever they can. When Kaylyn was a child her mom’s ex-husband Chad took her in as his own and was a great father figure to Kaylyn. Unfortunately several years after her mom and her Daddy Chad split up, Kaylyn and her family got the news that he had died when Kaylyn was only 16 years old. This was one of the hardest things that Kaylyn had ever experienced in her childhood years. Then 2 months after her Daddy Chad passed away, her family was heartbroken to find out that his brother who was her uncle was found dead by her grandma when he took his own life in her basement. After all of these events, Kaylyn’s mom wanted a fresh start so she decided to move the family across the country to go live in Colorado.

Kaylyn fell in love with someone her junior year when she was 18 years old and got married in secret. Kaylyn thought this was the right thing to do until she later realized that she married someone who wasn’t only abusive but was also a narcissist. Shortly after she got married she started to figure out what abuse was since she hadn’t ever experienced abuse from a relationship before that. She wanted to leave her husband but shortly after they got married she found out she was pregnant with her son and she felt stuck. Kaylyn stayed in the abusive marriage for 2 years but then once it started to become physical, she couldn’t take it anymore and had to leave for her and her child’s safety. Kaylyn finally put her foot down to the abuse and moved out when she was 20 and got her first apartment on her own. She was a single mom and was working full time while going to esthetician school and taking care of her son alone while her ex-husband was constantly getting deployed or going on missions since he was in the Army. Then one day Kaylyn went to sing at an open mic night and met this guitar player named Corwin. She went to introduce herself to him so she could ask him about potentially collab and making music together and that was how their story started. Kaylyn and Corwin eventually started dating and became inseparable and for once she felt happy again. But Kaylyn wasn’t ready to hear the unfortunate news that would change her life forever. Kaylyn had a bad feeling one day when she hadn’t heard from Corwin in a few days and then she knew something was wrong for sure when she didn’t hear from him on Christmas Eve or on Christmas Day. She went to his apartment which was right down the street from her at the time and she saw his car there but couldn’t get ahold of him and nobody was home. Kaylyn felt like she was losing her mind and kept trying to find his family members on Facebook because she only knew his younger brother and his older sister, brother-in-law, niece, and nephew but she didn’t have their numbers or any of them on social media at the time. Shortly after, Kaylyn got the horrible news from one of her old friends from esthetician school that Corwin had passed away on December 23rd in 2019. Kaylyn couldn’t believe what had just happened and she finally found Corwin’s mom on Facebook and then after having a long talk, his mom confirmed that everything Kaylyn was told was unfortunately true. The last day that Kaylyn spent with Corwin was on her son’s birthday which was on December 19th 2019.

Kaylyn suffered from severe depression and anxiety after her boyfriend passed away so suddenly but she still remains extremely close with his family and some of his best friends to this day. Kaylyn loved him very much and knows that he will be watching over her and her son for the rest of their lives. She knows that Corwin and the rest of her loved ones who are no longer with us would want her to keep going. This has pushed Kaylyn to never give up on her dream of becoming a singer and most importantly, to never give up on herself. Even after all of the obstacles that have come her way, Kaylyn will always trust in God and continue to be a warrior and an inspiration to others to keep going!

Kaylyn Lewis is a licensed esthetician and makeup artist, spa & jewelry business owner, influencer, and singer/songwriter. She loves all of the different types of work that she does but her favorite one out of them all is definitely singing. Kaylyn has known since she was just a little girl that all she wanted to do one day is make a living by singing and inspiring people all over the world.

But even after all of her accomplishments so far, she’s the proudest to be a mom. Kaylyn wants to make a difference in this world and that’s something that sets her apart from others because the picture in her head is bigger than just how successful she will be. After everything, she’s been through in her lifetime so far she has learned that money can’t buy happiness but you can find happiness by spreading love & kindness.

What matters most to you?
Being a good parent is what matters most to Kaylyn because she knows that it’s up to the generations to come to improve our world. And in order to do so then parents have to set good examples for their children or nothing is going to change and bad things will continue to repeat over and over again.
