Conversations with Kelle Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelle Smith.

Hi Kelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Kelle, owner/creator of TwinMoonMagick Candles & Craft. I grew up in a metaphysically minded home in Southern California, so opening a Ritual Intention candle company wasn’t a stretch. I’ve been a practicing witch for over 38 years and candles are an integral part of my craft. So I started pouring my own intention candles for ritual. All natural soy wax and essential oil based candles, topped with corresponding botanicals and a crystal. I’d started making them for my own use and gifts. After much urging from family and friends, I opened my Etsy shop in June of 2018. It took off and within 6 months, I had my first wholesale order from a brick and mortar, Alchemy Ritual Goods in Denver. Fast forward almost 8 years later and 10 stores are stocking my candles throughout the US. And I’m currently working on opening my own brick and mortar with 2 colleagues in Old Colorado City called The Enchanted Fox. We’re working on a soft opening late February to early March. We will carry my candles of course, as well as artisan jewelry, crystals, herbal apothecary items, books, incense, tarot decks, and more. Since I’m a Reiki Master & Intuitive card reader, as well as shamanic energy healer, we will also be offering Energywork, Reiki and energy clearing, as well as tarot readings.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Haha! Nope, but I don’t think it’s been too bad. I feel when things are aligned or you’re on the “right path” things happen with a bit more ease. Ease doesn’t mean easy. I’ve definitely made mistakes and had to redirect my energies. The time and energy it takes to be a small business owner is immense and being the candlemaker, bookkeeper, shipping manager, event vendor, social media manager, etc all on your own takes its toll. So finding a balance has always been my lesson or struggle.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I hand pour all natural soy wax and essential oil ritual intention candles. They’re candles to light for specific intentions that are topped with corresponding botanicals and crystals. They are infused with energy, intention, Reiki, Love and Magick. I also create other metaphysical tools such as ritual oils, charm bags, mini spell kits, and intuitive acrylic canvas paintings. Im also. Usui Reiki Master and shamanic healer. I’m definitely most proud of how my ritual tools and energy work have helped many clients heal and manifest. I would say that my just being my own creations, my energy sets me apart from others. In an inundated candle maker world, my candles stand out because they’re filled with positivity and intention, of my own making. I really believe the feel and energy of my candles is more why they sell than the smell. Although they smell divine too!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success or being successful if you’re doing what you love and can survive on that. Being authentically yourself and creating a job from your passion is Success!
