Conversations with Kimberly Ghorai

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Ghorai. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Meta Yoga Studios was born between the collaboration of three yoga practitioners in Breckenridge that wanted a dedicated space for all things yoga. The first studio opened in November of 2010, serving a combination of locals and visitors.

In 2015, the original owners sold the studio to Kimberly & Krishna Ghorai. This kept the ownership “in-the-family” as Krishna had been practicing yoga with the original owners well before 2010 and Kimberly did her yoga teacher certification with Meta, moving on to teach and eventually became the manager at Meta.

In 2021, the Ghorais purchased an existing hot yoga studio in Frisco, turning it into the dedicated Meta Hot Yoga studio. The combination of a hot and not-hot studio provides a wonderful diversity to the options students can explore in Summit County all on one pass.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Some individuals handle change well and others not so well. With each change of ownership between the two studios there were hiccups. Over a relatively short period of time, those hiccups mellowed out and Meta was able to keep the focus on serving students that gravitated to our offerings.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Rooted in loving-kindness and transformation, Meta Yoga Studios is community-driven, focused on providing the highest quality yoga with world-class teachers in inspiring locations. Our classes, studio space, teachers, and community aim to be accessible and welcoming to all. Our mission is to provide a supportive environment for students and teachers to explore and experience the authentic practices of yoga.

Meta offers public yoga classes (hot and not) every day of the year for both locals and visitors to Summit County. The passions of our teachers drives the styles of classes that are offered. For individuals that are looking to go deeper, Meta offers a Foundational Yoga Training as well as a Yoga Teacher Certification. For those yoga teachers looking to expand their knowledge, we offer continuing education opportunities as well as an Advanced Yoga Teacher Certification.

Our biggest accomplishments come from our efforts around community. This includes yoga classes hosted in Spanish, yearly reparations to the Southern Ute Indian Tribes, and our Pay-It-Forward program to provide yoga for those that have financial limitations. We are always looking for ways to expand our support of the community that holds us so closely.

How do you think about happiness?
We jump for joy when we see someone leave a yoga session in a more relaxed and even state of mind. Any time we witness the release of limitations or physical and mental roadblocks in an individual, we have done our job!
