Conversations with Kristina Vasquez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Vasquez. 

Hi Kristina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started food blogging on Instagram just as a hobby. I’ve always enjoyed trying new restaurants and different cuisines so I figured it would be a fun and cool experience to share what I eat with my friends and family online. While also going to school to pursue a degree in Journalism it only seemed right to merge both aspects of my life and I started an internship at 303 Magazine writing about different restaurants and street vendors in the Denver metro area. Since then, I have graduated and transitioned to a staff contributor with 303 Magazine while continuing to share my foodie adventures on social media. It’s been amazing to connect with other foodies in Denver and learn more about the restaurant entrepreneurs that make up such a welcoming and diverse community. It’s also been exciting to see food blogging sort of evolving and incorporating newer, more creative platforms like TikTok. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Though it has been a smooth road for me, I know during the height of COVID it was very bleak for most restaurant owners. I was happy to shed light on various home bakery businesses and side hustles through various articles and social media posts. 

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
I enjoy following other creatives in the Denver food scene through social media and reading various food-related articles from my peers at 303 Magazine, Westword, 5280 Magazine, and the Denver Post! And just for fun, I listen to the Be My Guest with Ina Garten podcast just to throw it back to my childhood. I grew up watching all those early 2000s Food Network shows with my dad so it’s a bit nostalgic.
