Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Anderson.
Hi Lauren, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a passion for photography since I was in high school! Photography and marketing were actually what I studied in college, little did I know that I would become a full-time wedding and elopement photographer. Not only am I passionate about photography, but I’m also in love with the Western lifestyle. After moving to Colorado in 2016, I found a few jobs in the equine industry and did some photos on the side, treating it as a hobby that paid well!
One of my coworkers, who became a good friend, asked me to photograph her wedding. She knew that I hadn’t done a wedding before but was confident that her photos would be amazing. I think she had more confidence than I did. Long story short, I fell absolutely in love with photographing weddings. I told my then-boyfriend, now husband, that I think I figured out what I want to do with my career!
Since that day, I hit the ground running working on who I wanted to serve and who my ideal clients were. Leading up to today, so far in 2023, I have traveled to South Carolina, Florida, Utah California, Nevada, and all over Colorado for wedding and elopement photography. Many of my weddings are either western cowboy ranch weddings or mountain elopements. And sometimes it’s the perfect mix of both!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think when owning a small business, there can always be ups and downs. One of the biggest things I had to work through last year was my branding.
I wanted my photography business to reflect who I was, what it’s like working with me, and create a warm and inviting experience for couples who need a photographer. I’m very down to earth and want to capture your everyday love. I consider all of my couples to be friends, allowing us to have a close relationship.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
If I had to describe my work I would say it’s warm, inviting, joyful, and truly authentic. I focus heavily on my client experience and want to create genuine moments of my couples rather than just pretty photos. My couples come to me to create beautiful images that reflect who they are and what their love looks like every day.
When it comes to wedding photography, of course, I want to provide stunning sunset bridal photos. At the same time, there are so many details that go into a wedding day that could be missed. I focus on capturing every aspect of a wedding day so that my couples can relive their best day!
From grandma crying as the bride is walking down the aisle, to your drunk college friend dancing at the reception, to the details on the cake. Everything is so important! My goal is for people to look back at their photos and say, “Wow, I feel like I can relive our wedding day through these photos!”
What matters most to you? Why?
Client experience matters to me most! My goal is to always have open communication and a relationship with them since we’re spending so much time together on their most important day.
If a couple doesn’t enjoy being around their photographers, that will reflect negatively on their wedding day experience.
