Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Ferron.
Hi Liz, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Always the adventurer, “normal” was not my forte. I sought out a career in Standup comedy, Radio & television. I didn’t begin either career until my 30s & one in my late 50s, which proves you can do anything at any age. Life for me has not been ordinary, which is why comedy was the right fit for me. After 27 years of being on the stage, I can say I have honed my craft! Making people laugh is the most euphoric feeling.
I am available all year round for bookings. Radio was a natural fit for me, as well. I decided to go get my degree in Broadcasting in my 30s and have since been in 4 markets doing morning radio and now I am happily perched in the studio at KKVM 104.7 The Mile each Monday – Friday from 3-6. It took forever to get a break into tv! One year ago, I heard that the newly revamped TV 8 here in Eagle County was looking for co-hosts for their Good Morning Vail Program.
I went and did my thing and heard back almost a year later to the date offering me a spot co-hosting their morning show and hosting the weekend edition. It has been a wonderful experience and I enjoy interviewing so many incredible personalities in our community. After many life struggles, I am in my happy place. Always grateful for my talent, ambition and drive at any age
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No! I had to do many “hell” gigs on the road in the field of comedy. I finally found my way to big city stages, but not before driving around the country, getting lost, feeling alone & nervous & well, getting lost! As far as radio, I knew I was good and sadly a few Hosts that I partnered with knew this, too.
Ego on the Host’s part made it hard for me to be accepted but I didn’t let that deter me. After being treated horribly in a fairly large market in Florida, I took a job that paid half as much and was so happy. Money isn’t the end all for a career. Contentment is.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I write comedy daily. This gives me fodder for so much material when I perform on stage. I know I am a tiny force & my goal is for everyone to relate to what I say. Comedy isn’t for the meek! My life experiences led me to do this craft & it has been both cathartic & rewarding as well as healing. Radio is my ultimate happy place! I love bringing on musicians who are so talented and letting them play for true community live on the air.
I love the genre of music, I get to play as well. Classic Rock! Bringing memories and happiness to listeners. And, of course, I love being community oriented and this is the perfect platform to embrace everyone. TV is my newest love and I have to say I have fallen right into place at TV 8. I am proud of my accomplishments, even after years of struggles, my strength never lets me down
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Anyone who wishes to come on the air, on TV, or on Radio can reach out to me, especially if they are doing good for the community. Bringing light to special members of society is so rewarding. It shows we have quality, talented people all around us.
I wish to start a female-based podcast featuring strong, amazing women to discuss life’s topics. I am looking for special guests all the time! If anyone wishes to show off their craft, art, music, cooking, writing, etc I am happy to interview you!
